The Nevada Department of Education is building a shared vision for the future of learning. The Portrait of a Nevada Learner is a roadmap to guide education decision-making at all levels, answering the call to transform education for the future.

Building on academics, the Portrait recognizes the need to make durable skills accessible to all learners. When we listen to young people, educators, and communities - they continue to urge us to define a shared vision of success that includes the mindsets and skills that brings knowledge to life.

An initial draft was developed in January 2023, based on statewide input.

Developing a final Portrait of a Nevada Learner is an ongoing process in partnership with the Nevada community. Tell us what you think of the draft by taking the Portrait Survey in English or Spanish.

By becoming a Portrait Partner, you can help us evolve the draft with input from people in your network.

1. Believe that Nevadans can build a better future of learning, together.
   

2. Host a conversation in your organization about the essential mindsets, skills, and knowledge needed to thrive in our community. We’ve got a toolkit full of resources to support you in this process!
   

3. Will be a part of quarterly calls that engages statewide partners in this ongoing work.
