WOMEN AGEING TODAY

Mary Pipher, author of Women Rowing North: Navigating life’s Currents and Flourishing as We Age, suggests that the cultural and physical process elders and adolescents experience, if not similar, are equally challenging and require both understanding and support from society. And, as CUC newsletter contributor Kenzie Love writes: '.....although it may fall under many names, chalice circles, covenant groups etc, small group ministry is recognized as an important part of Unitarian Universalism'.

The Women Ageing Today Group provides a safe space where we, as older women, come together to explore those life issues related to ageing in today’s world from a personal perspective, and provide each other support. Currently we meet virtually but have been discussing the possibility of meeting in person.

As a group, we share the responsibility for leadership, as each person is comfortable. The decision about what to discuss is also made by the group with support given to those who may have a need for conversation on a particular issue.

Anyone interested in joining or learning more please contact Hendrika Sheshadri

Group meets 3rd Wednesday of the month, from 1:30pm to 3pm. September to June.

NON-FICTION BOOK CLUB | MARCH

The Universal Christ
by Richard Rohr

Drawing on scripture, history, and spiritual practice, Rohr shares a transformative view of Jesus Christ as a portrait of God’s constant, unfolding work in the world. “God loves things by becoming them,” he writes, and Jesus’s life was meant to declare that humanity has never been separate from God—except by its own negative choice. When we recover this fundamental truth, faith becomes less about proving Jesus was God, and more about learning to recognize the Creator’s presence all around us, and in everyone we meet.

Join us via Zoom:  Thursday March 9 and 23 at 2pm:  https://tinyurl.com/UFPBookClub

He is trustworthy, kind and loves Peterborough. His budget is $500/month. Marion Habermehl will happily act as a reference.
