Are You in Need of More Books?

If you’re looking for more books for your Book Drive, we recommend contacting your local Half Price Books (HPB) store (see location directory here). Call your local store and let them know that you’re collecting book donations to create a library through the African Library Project.

It is part of HPB’s operations to donate a percentage of their books to non-profits. Many of our other Book Drive Organizers have had great success in collecting donated books from HPB. They are also constantly getting more books in, making them an even better resource. So even if you call today and they recently gave away their supply, there is a chance that they will have a few boxes to donate to you the following week. Plus, they typically have the books sorted by reading level in boxes ready to go.

Book Drives

There are still a few more opportunities to create a library in Malawi! A few early childhood development schools are in need of a library and have not been matched up with a Book Drive Organizer. If you have early childhood development books, please consider signing up. Maybe your local Half Price Books Store has a few books ready to be picked up!

Sign-ups have recently opened up for South Africa and Lesotho. Book drives for South Africa will be sent to our partner Lisika Unite Foundation in Limpopo Province (a rural area in the upper NE corner of South Africa), and the mailing deadline in June 1.

The Lesotho mailing date in now August 1 (originally May). Our partners in Lesotho are the US Peace Corps Lesotho and the Lesotho Ministry of Education and Training (MOET).
