Don’t be on time
Leave five minutes earlier than you think you’ll need. That simple habit leaves room for chatting with whoever you might meet on the street, instead of once again having to say “I’m already late for my meeting”.
You’re of course still free to claim you’re late if you don’t want to stay and talk. But think about all the old friends, former colleagues and business partners you miss out catching up with, because you can’t plan your schedule better than leaving you rushing through the streets cursing at slow people and traffic lights.
So, don’t aim for being on time. Aim for being 5 minutes early — why not ten?
