Strengthening the cultural competency and cultural responsiveness of the mental health workforce in Tasmania.
Dear Member,
We are excited to announce that this year's TTMHN annual event will be held at 'The Grange' in Campbell Town on Tuesday, 28 February. The focus for the event will be approaches to communication and engagement with CALD communities.
Event Program
Open - 10am
Guest Speaker
A keynote presentation will be given by Raylynn Benn from the Social Policy Research Centre (SPRC). The SPRC conducts research on a wide range of social policy issues in relation to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, including health, housing, education and employment, and aims to inform policy and practice, and to promote social inclusion and equity.
The presentation will outline the guiding principles and key considerations set out in a communication guide developed by SPRC for public health organizations working with CALD communities during the COVID pandemic. The presentation will provide valuable insights into the nuances associated with communicating and engaging CALD communities.
Lunch
Members will share a light lunch together.
Workshop
Following lunch attendees will have the opportunity to contribute and workshop their own experiences of communication and engagement with CALD clients. This will be a great opportunity for attendees to share their challenges and successes, receive feedback and insights from their peers, and work on their own effective strategies.
Networking
Throughout the event there will be many opportunities to network and connect with one another. This will include some focused time during afternoon tea.
Close - 3pm
Places are limited. Please register by Friday, 24 February to secure your place!
