Monday Feb 20 Presidents' Day Holiday
  • No class on Monday Feb 20.
  • The Program Office will be closed on Monday Feb 20 in observance of Presidents' Day.
  • We will reopen the office on Tuesday Feb 21 at 4PM (staff will be in an off-site retreat until then).

Underhill Lot Advisory: Cal Men's Basketball Games
Feb 23
  • If you normally park in Underhill, MBA Semester Permits will only be valid on Underhill Levels 3 & 4 on game days. Games are in the evening.
  • The area immediately around Haas is not affected, please expect traffic along Bancroft Ave to Downtown on game days. Full basketball game day parking rules here.

Save the Date! WE Lead: Third Year Retreat
Friday May 12 to Sunday May 14, Hilton Financial District San Francisco
  • WE Lead represents a grand finale for the Class of 2023 to come together one last time before commencement.
  • The event is optional and non-academic in nature. The costs for the weekend are (largely) borne by the Program Office.
  • Expect to arrive Friday evening and depart Sunday mid-morning.
  • Look out for more info and to RSVP in the coming weeks.

Commencement 2023 Keynote Speaker: Frank Cooper III, CMO
Friday May 19, 2PM, Greek Theatre
  • The Haas School of Business is pleased to announce that Visa’s Chief Marketing Officer Frank Cooper III, BS 86, will serve as the Berkeley Haas commencement speaker for the Full-Time MBA and Evening & Weekend MBA Class of 2023. 
  • Prior to working at Visa, Cooper served as chief marketing officer at BlackRock, shaping the firm’s global brand and marketing strategy.

Action Required: Items in the Program Office
  • Found Items/Club Swag
    • The Program Office can only hold items for a month after it's dropped off. This includes found items with a name, or things from other students or student groups, e.g. club swag.
    • If you received a courtesy email from our office, please pick it up by the posted deadline.
    • If items are not picked up, it will be donated it to ReUSE, UC Berkeley's campus thrift store.

    • Berkeley Law Lot (reserved for a memorial service at the Faculty Club)
    • Bancroft Lot (the one under the tennis courts, also reserved for a memorial service)
    • Underhill (Residence Hall Event - Silent Disco)
      • Special Events Parking says to avoid Underhill because they’re expecting 1,200 undergraduate students for the event.
  • Probably OK
    • Bowles (might have a few spaces reserved for the Rugby match at Witter Field).
    • Upper Hearst (Hearst Ave at La Loma Ave)
    • Ridge Lot (Ridge Rd at La Loma Ave)
    • Foothill (up the hill towards Lawrence Livermore Lab)
  • As always, please check any posted signs at lot entrances!

  • We'll be off-site for lunch this day as the Women in Leadership Conference in the Courtyard.
  • Please pick up your lunch at Freehouse. The Freehouse patios are available but will fill up pretty quickly, but there are also tables in front of the Law School.

Celebrate Black History Month with Haas DEIJB
Friday Feb 24, 5PM, Oakland Museum of CA

  • The Berkeley Haas Office of Diversity Equity Inclusion Justice and Belonging (DEIJB) invites you to celebrate Black History Month at Friday Nights at Oakland Museum. Galleries will be open late and offer discounted museum admission.
  • This is also an opportunity to view the new "Angela Davis - Seize the Time" exhibit, and our office will be offering free tickets to the first 15 community members who arrive in person at the museum. 
  • We will be saving a section for members of the Berkeley Haas community to gather as viewing the exhibit is not a requirement for attendance. Don't forget to wear your Haas and/or Cal-spirited gear! Please note that we will not be sponsoring food or drinks.

Courtyard Ventures
  • Interested in getting hands-on experience in the world of venture capital? Courtyard Ventures is a student-led Venture Capital fund that invests in companies founded by Berkeley students and Alumni. Courtyard Ventures already has 70 investors from the MBA community investing as little as $5,000 USD. The fund will be closing for student investments at the end of Feb 2023.
  • Fun Fact 1: Berkeley is the second largest producer of founders among all other U.S. schools. Just among MBA’s, we produce 1.4 unicorns for every 1000 MBA students!

Resume Workshop

  • This workshop is going to walk you through how a recruiter or hiring manager might evaluate a resume, and along the way highlight how you might alter your resume to help them help you.
  • We will look at resumes together and evaluate them through this process and understand how to stack the odds in your favor - just to be clear, there is no magic bullet.

Story 2: Your Story: Tell Me About Yourself

  • Come learn how to get your interview off to a great start by learning to craft and structure your response to the infamous "Tell Me About Yourself" question in this step by step process.

    • Have opportunities to practice
    • Get feedback and refine
    • You will leave with a first draft of your TMAY!
