Difficult to Fill Vacancies

Research conducted by the SLMRU in Solas identified a number of vacancies where skills requirements are in short supply.

Science, Engineering and Technology have been highlighted as the most difficult to fill positions.  These are followed by Construction.  Reports also show Transport and Logistics, Financial and Health are also experiencing difficulties in filling vacancies.

Employment Trends

Over 3 years (2019 – 2022) employment in the South East has increased by 14%, which is a great boost for the region. Solas’ recent report also presents some interesting market trends such as employment growth being greater for females and an increase of 66% in the Professional occupational group.

Education Indicators
The number of students availing of further education and apprenticeships has grown significantly in the last four years, demonstrating that individuals are ready and willing to avail of opportunities to gain qualifications. Read more
