People on the ground, experts in the field, our own collective wisdom - we already know what will end the housing crisis and help bring wholeness to our communities:
Truly affordable housing
coupled with the supportive services that
help people get and stay housed.
But what do we need to move toward this horizon?
Land: Our Coalition has already organized over 400 housing units for affordable and transitional housing on faith community land. We need more to match the crisis, in a way that honors our sacred connection with the land.
People: We need neighbors willing to welcome new neighbors, honoring people’s concerns while rejecting NIMBY narratives that divide us. Through house meetings, conversations on doorsteps, backyard BBQs, block parties, community picnics, and relational organizing, we need to bring people together - neighbors, business owners, community leaders - to say YES to affordable and transitional housing.
Money: We know we can’t afford not to fund housing and supportive services including mental health. We need to track down where the money is - in our cities, counties and state - and raise our voices alongside others to ensure it goes towards proven and cost-effective solutions.
