You are Imagining Yourself Half way Down the snow hill with thigh muscles crying out in pain... 'If only I had done more pre ski fitness training' !!
Snow sports Injury Prevention and Fitness preparation has many components. We are interested in your health and safety and your ability to enjoy a great time at the snow! There are many components to injury prevention and training great specific sports endurance and agility. Here are some Snow Safe Tips from research:
- Pre Ski/ Snow Boarding endurance muscle, strength and agility training program
- Pace yourself. Fatigue plays a big part in injuries on the slopes
- Protective equipment may include wearing a helmet to prevent head injury.
- Beginner Snow Boarders are advised to wear wrist braces.
- Don’t save the hardest runs until last!
- If something doesn’t feel right, investigate it. An ill-fitting boot may irritate the front of your leg or toes in one session and ruin the rest of your holiday
- Consider lessons if you’ve not skied for a while
- Learn how to fall correctly to prevent injury. And! How to get up from the snow.
If you are heading down to the snow this year and can't make our new snow sports fitness course, please let your Pilates and exercise instructor know, and we will incorporate some challenging VMO, Gluteal, arm and core exercises into your regular studio sessions, to get you ready to ski and snowboard with confidence!
