2022 SPEER Annual Report
There is a tremendous opportunity to increase energy efficiency in SPEER's region of Texas and Oklahoma through building codes, retrofits for existing buildings, better training, innovative policies, and cooperative marketing to make it easier for the public to understand efficiency opportunities.  As we continue to promote and advance efficiency we want to highlight our accomplishments over the past year. We have organized working groups, participated in public comment requests and meetings at the Public Utility Commission, and expanded our membership - all of which are helping advance efficiency to solve some of the largest problems facing our sector. With your help, together we will address resource adequacy, high energy burdens, increase resilience, air quality, and more.

Two Years Since Uri:
Energy Efficiency's Role in the Texas Grid and Reliability
Two years ago Winter Storm Uri took a toll on Texans and the grid, and there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to increase reliability and lower soaring electricity costs. SPEER continues to push for more energy efficiency, weatherization of our homes & buildings, and grid flexibility through demand response. Together these solutions will save consumers money, fortify the Texas grid by reducing demand and stress, and make our buildings more comfortable when extreme weather occurs. Webinar: A Review of Texas & Oklahoma Energy Efficiency Scores

SPEER alongside the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) will be taking a deep dive into both Texas and Oklahoma scores (spoiler - there's room for improvement) and discuss ways the region can improve its energy efficiency efforts, reduce energy waste, and save you money.

Every year ACEEE publishes its analysis of all 50 states’ energy efficiency policies, programs, and efforts to save energy in an equitable and cost-effective way through their State Energy Efficiency Scorecard. Texas and Oklahoma rank 29th and 41st respectively, despite significant energy efficiency potential in both states. Lead author, Sagarika Subramanian and her colleagues Jennifer Amann and Edward Yim of ACEEE will discuss the scorecard development process, take an in-depth look at Texas and Oklahoma scores, and provide a review of possible recommendations that may allow the region to improve its energy-saving efforts. Join us for this insightful webinar!

When: February 23 at 10:00 AM Central

Panelists:
• Sagarika Subramanian, ACEEE
• Jennifer Amann, ACEEE
• Edward Yim, ACEEE
• Noah Oaks, SPEER (moderator)
