Resiliency: Caring for Ourselves While Caring for Others

Dear Fellow Guild Members,

You are receiving this brochure because you may have an interest in participating in the NEOMED HRSA-funded Resiliency: Caring for Ourselves while Caring for Others Retreat opportunities. The purpose of this grant is to increase resiliency to impact burnout in healthcare workforces. This program uses the foundation of the Healer’s Art program. The Healer’s Art was designed in 1991 by Rachel Naomi Remen, MD, Founding Director of The Remen Institute for the Study of Health Illness (RISHI). We collaborate with Dr. Evangeline Andarsio, Director of RISHI at Pure Healthcare of Dayton to provide retreat workshops that offer participants the opportunity to discover the power of meaning to transform their experience of their daily work, revitalize their commitment, and reinvigorate their service intention.

All retreats are held at Salt Fork State Park Lodge and Conference Center in Lore City, Ohio. These weekend retreats are free to attendees, including lodging and food. The attached brochure has the dates of all retreats with live registration links. If you have any questions please contact us at djkropp@neomed.edu.

We hope you will take advantage of one of these opportunities and please share with others in the healthcare workforce.

Thank you,

Margy Sanders

Faculty Opportunity-M4 Palliative Care Module in the Epilogue Course
Dear Faculty,

The Office of Palliative Care and students greatly appreciate your considering participation in this important education and hope you may be available this year to co-facilitate a small group discussion for our M4 palliative care module in the Epilogue course on Wednesday, March 8 from 12:30-4:30 pm at NEOMED. Lunch will be provided at 12:30. As in previous years, the students are divided into groups based on their specialty choices and given two cases to discuss. There is a hospice/palliative care representative in each group. As you may know, this class has been very well received by the students and helps prepare them for their transition into residency.

Thank you! We hope to see you soon. If you can suggest anyone else who would be interested in co facilitating, please let me know. There are more students than in the past and a number of past faculty have recently informed me that they are unable to participate, this year. We are particularly in need of the following clinical faculty in the practice of  Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Internal Medicine, and Surgery.

With gratitude,

Margy
