It was wonderful to see so many families during parent teacher conferences and to hear about the tremendous growth of our students. You should have a clear understanding of how your child is doing academically and socially along with goals for how to finish the year successfully. Please let us know if you have further questions or need assistance. We are accepting applications for Project Launch this summer for elementary and middle school students. This program is a great way to extend the school year to keep practicing academic skills and have some fun with STEM and outdoor activities.  You can reach out to your child’s teacher or Anna Mills (mills_anna@svvsd.org for middle school students) for more details.

The deadline to nominate teachers for the district wide Tribute to Teachers celebration is February 22 (see directions below).  We would also like to cordially invite 3rd-8th grade girls to join us for our Girls in Robotics event coming up on February 25th

Students’ mouths drop open as their brains try to put into context the enormous size of Olympus Mons on Mars.  This volcano stands at over 72,000 feet and is the largest known volcano in our solar system.  5th graders this week explored the topography of Mars using an AR simulation to bring the landscape of Mars to life.  Our 1st graders also explored Mars geography by programming a VEX 123 robot to navigate obstacles on a giant map.  8th grade students in Mr. Schmitz’s class took a live virtual field trip through a NCAR lab with one of their scientists. Providing students with hands-on real world experiences in combination with rich academic environments propels students into the scientific process, pushes student thinking and collaboration, and gives all students an opportunity to shine.

Our 4th and 5th graders put on amazing music performances at EHS and our Middle School Choir warmed the building with Valentine singing grams.  Elementary students enjoyed Valentine’s parties.  We hosted a robotics tournament at Soaring Heights with teams winning the Design Award and coming in 2nd place in the Skills Category. The wrestling team had a successful first match winning against Altona Middle School.  Research shows students involved in music and other extracurricular activities perform better academically, have stronger connections to peers, and have higher overall outcomes. We highly encourage students to get involved in as many activities as possible.

Taking pride in your community and supporting others are key attributes to creating a thriving learning environment.  Groups of 1st and 2nd graders on their own without any adult direction took it upon themselves to pick up trash during recess.  Some of our 5th graders made bags of necessities for the homeless at their Valentine’s parties. This month for our Kindness Campaign we are highlighting what we appreciate about others.

From our entire staff, we hope everyone enjoys the long weekend.  We are honored to serve the Erie Community.  Please let us know if you have any questions or if we can help with anything.

***SAFETY REMINDER***

Our students' safety is a top priority.  Please have your student exit your vehicle from the curb side only in the main drive line or kindergarten drive line.  Also, please do not drop off students in the parking lot. Please use the hug-n-go lane.  This will prevent students from having to cross moving traffic.

Our new light at the main entrance is up and working.  Thank you to all of our families for your patience during the transition time.
Dear Students, Parents, Community Members and Business Partners,

Thank you for your support of the students and teachers in the St. Vrain Valley community.

One of our favorite events of the year is the Tribute to Teachers award celebration sponsored by St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation. We love it because it recognizes and honors our outstanding teachers for their excellence in teaching.

Please help by nominating a teacher who you believe exemplifies excellence for a Teacher of the Year Award. Visit St. Vrain Valley Schools Education Foundation's website at https://stvrainfoundation.org/programs/tribute-to-teachers/ for the nomination form. The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11:45 pm.

Upcoming Events

Wednesday, March 1, 2023: Building Resilience in You, Your Child, and Your Family

  • 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools
  • Presented by Dr. Shelly Mahon
  • Description: The world has changed for a variety of reasons over the last few years, but one thing remained the same – our ability to be resilient. While the challenges we’ve faced can cause fear and worry, they also create opportunities to build resilience in ways we have not been exposed to in the past. Almost a half a century of research tells us that parents/caregivers are the number one source of a child’s resilience. So, what does that look like and how do you create that environment? In this interactive conversation, we will explore what resilience looks like for you, your child, and your family. We will address myths and dig into specific strategies that leave you empowered to go home and apply what you’ve uncovered and learned. You will see that resilience is in each and every one of us, it simply needs to be grown and nurtured.
