Come to Founders Day at 4 p.m. today in Wait Chapel

Please join us in Wait Chapel at 4 p.m. today to mark the founding of Wake Forest 189 years ago. This year’s program features the annual senior oration, musical performances, and a commemorative reading of excerpts from a speech made by Provost Emeritus Ed Wilson (‘43) on Founders Day, 1992. President Susan R. Wente and Provost Michele Gillespie will also provide remarks.

Want to buy contemporary art for Wake Forest next spring? Meeting tonight at 7 p.m.

Experience the energy of the art world firsthand as you travel to New York and purchase major artworks for our world-class collection. Come to the informational meeting tonight at 7 p.m. in Benson 410 and learn about the Reece Collection Acquisition Committee 2023-24.

Join us for ConsentCon tomorrow (Feb. 17)

ConsentCon, a conference exploring the meaning of consent on college campuses, will take place tomorrow (Friday, Feb. 17) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Benson Center. ConsentCon will engage students, faculty and staff in a community conversation about consent in pursuit of a campus free of interpersonal violence. See the schedule.

Attend a Housing Selection Info Session (especially important for first-year students)

We highly encourage students to attend one of the Housing Selection Information Sessions to learn more about the process with our Residence Life and Housing staff. This is especially important for first-year students who have not gone through the housing selection process yet. Information sessions are listed below. Note: Students of all years can attend any session.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 21: Information Session from 5-6 p.m. in the Luter Hall lobby
  • Wednesday, Feb. 22: Information Session from 5-6 p.m. in the Wellbeing Center Living Room
  • Wednesday, March 1: Table Session from 12-2 p.m. in the Benson Center outside the Food Court - this is a time to stop by and ask any questions you have
  • Thursday, March 2: Information Session from 5-6 p.m. in the Maya Angelou Hall parlor

First-year students: complete your Pulse Check survey

First-year students are a vital part of our campus community, and we want to make sure we are creating a supportive environment that you can call home. To do this effectively, we want to hear directly from students. First-year students were emailed a brief, 10-question survey on Tuesday, Feb. 14, designed to provide insights into your residential experience this year. The data from this survey will help us to understand first-year students’ sense of belonging and how we can continue to cultivate a caring residential community. Class of 2026 Deacs, please check your Wake Forest email and take the survey, which will be open until Thursday, Feb. 23.

Register for Wake ’N Shake

Join the Office of Civic and Community Engagement on Saturday, March 25 for 12 straight hours of dancing to benefit the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund and the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Registration for Wake 'N Shake 2023 is now live!

ICYMI (In Case You Missed It):

  • See the Lunar New Year celebration video — students celebrated Lunar New Year this past weekend with food, music, dancing, and more.
  • Reminder: Face to Face with Bryan Stevenson, Feb. 23 — come hear from social-justice activist Bryan Stevenson at a special student-only event on February 23 at 5 p.m. in Wait Chapel.
