Please pray for our brother and sisters in Syria and Turkey.

Holy One, you are our comfort and strength
in times of sudden disaster, crisis or chaos.
Surround us now with your grace and peace
through storm or earthquake, fire or flood.

By our Spirit, lift up those who have fallen,
sustain those who work to rescue or rebuild,
and fill us with the hope of your new creation;
through you, our rock and redeemer.

Enrich your Lenten Journey by participating in Stations of the Cross which will be held in the the Historic Church every Friday at 7 PM throughout Lent.  The service allows the faithful to trace the steps of Jesus as depicted in the framed illustrations along the walls in the main church. The devotion known as Stations of the Cross is an adaptation of a custom widely observed by pilgrims to Jerusalem: the offering of prayer at a series of places traditionally associated with our Lord's passion and death.  Daughters of the King will be hosting this spiritual event which is open to everyone! Come join us for one or all of the Fridays- February 24, March 3, 10, 17, 24, 31.

Resurrecting the Rice Bowl!!
Many parishioners may remember the Rice Bowl project that was held during the Lenten season for a number of years at All Saints’. Since the start of the pandemic, we had to put a pause on this effort. We believe this is a good time to resurrect this project. For those of you not familiar, the Rice Bowl project is a fund-raising campaign held during Lent (starting February 26 through April 2). All the funds collected for this effort are directed toward a specific charitable organization. We alternate between a local charity one year and an international charity the following year.

Since we do this during Lent, we ask that you forego something during the week that you would spend money on and donate what you would have spent to the Rice Bowl. Heading to Starbucks to get a $5.00 latte? Give that up and donate that $5.00 to the Rice Bowl. Headed out for lunch? Maybe consider brown-bagging that day and donate what you would have spent to the Rice Bowl. This practice fulfills both the sacrificial and almsgiving elements to our Lenten spiritual practices.

This year we've chosen "Drop In The Bucket" to receive funds collected. This organization builds water wells in African villages that don't have access to clean water. Not only do they build the wells, but also educate and train the local villagers on maintenance and repair of the wells to insure continuity of water availability long after the well is constructed. Current cost to build a well is $7,000.

If you have any questions about this effort, please contact Cathy Guzauskas cathy09271@comcast.net or Linda Miller, Outreach coordinator at All Saints’. We are excited to bring this effort back to life and we ask that you prayerfully consider supporting this project.
For More Information On "Drop In The Bucket"

On March 5 at 9 AM, all are welcome to our next Multigenerational Event. We will be in the season of Lent, one of the special times of the year when people prepare for and remember their Baptism. We will learn about the signs and symbols of Baptism and what it means that we are baptized. Everyone is welcome!

Did you know…..

(from the Advocate’s website)

"In the 1980s a group of individuals and organizations led by All Saints Episcopal Parish, Frederick, Maryland partnered and worked together to address the growing homeless rate for families in the community. The outcome of their admirable efforts is the founding of Advocates for Homeless Families in 1988, an organization that has successfully impacted the lives of several hundred families who otherwise may not have had the support and resources to overcome their homelessness.”

Would you like to know more about the mission and programs of Advocates for Homeless Families, Inc? All Saints member, Dan Huebner, is currently serving on their Board of Directors. If you’d like to know how to become more involved please contact Linda Miller at lindy205@verizon.net and she will connect you with Dan.

Computer students celebrate the school’s 7th anniversary.

Last week, computer students celebrated the 7th anniversary of their school. 60-70% of the students are female. Participants range  from middle school through college graduates.

Sewing classes are now being offered in the building adjacent to the computer school. Women are learning skills which enable them to make their own clothes and provide income for their families.

Becoming Beloved Community Anti-Racism Workshop
Saturday, February 25, 2023

The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland will be offering "Becoming Beloved Community Anti-Racism Workshop" on Saturday, Feb 25, 9 AM - 5 PM, at All Saints’ Episcopal Church.

Check-in begins at 8:30 AM.  A light continental breakfast will be provided in the morning.  Lunch will also be provided.

The workshop is designed to provide opportunities for open discussion about one of the most difficult topics we have in our country: RACE.  It is by no means a simple conversation, and it is certainly a conversation that requires more than just a few hours together.  The issue of race is divisive in so many ways, but as a Christian community we are all called to do this difficult work together.  One of the primary goals of the workshop is to provide new pathways for having honest and open conversations about racial injustice, the legacy of slavery, systematic and institutionalized racism, and white supremacy.  It’s hard and difficult work, but the ultimate goal is for all of us to grow as a community of reconcilers, justice-makers, and healers who not only share a common passion for Becoming Beloved Community, but for understanding intimately God’s call to us to be active participants in the creation and sustaining of the Beloved Community.

All congregations within the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland are invited to this workshop being held at All Saints’. For more information, please contact Rixey Hoult at rixeyann@comcast.net .  Space is limited, so please register in advance using the following link:

A Story of Two Churches: Moving from the Past — Building a Better Future covers the historical connection between Asbury United Methodist and All Saints’ Episcopal Churches in Frederick before Emancipation up to present day. This 30-minute documentary is a part of our shared history. Discover how our two churches have reconnected in recent years to have conversations about race and work toward truth, healing, and repair.

Lunch will be provided, and conversation will follow the movie. To help us plan, please RSVP Jill Browning at jbrow1429@gmail.com or call/text 301-639-9556 by Wednesday, March 8.

Presented by The AARCH Society and the All Saints’ Truth & Reconciliation Committee.

The Getting Ahead Program

The Getting Ahead program is partnering with local organizations and churches to facilitate a program to help people stabilize their situations and build resources to improve their lives.  The goal for the participants (investigators) is self sufficiency in all parts of their lives.

The next Getting Ahead session has started and this Tuesday, Jill Browning and friends will be providing the meal and serving.  Many thanks!

Currently we have a need for volunteers on March 7 and April 18. In support of this Program All Saints' prepares and serves meals as well as packing up leftovers for the investigators and children, to take home with them.

Children's and Youth Christian Formation Coordinator
All Saints’ Episcopal Church is seeks an energetic and thoughtful leader to coordinate, facilitate, and help us develop our programs of Christian formation for children and youth. This is a part-time position requiring 20 hours of work per week (usually of 12-16 hours on weekdays plus 3-4 hours dedicated on Sundays and/or for special events).

When you hear or see a call for volunteers, are your immediate thoughts: I have nothing of value to offer…there are other people more qualified than me…serving will require time or skills I don’t have…I’ll get assigned to a task I don’t enjoy? If any of these concerns apply to you, All Saints' has you covered. We are looking to identify parishioners who possess skills or knowledge in several areas that will enhance our stewardship for our buildings and grounds. We are looking for parishioners who have familiarity with HVAC, IT, plumbing, electrical wiring, carpentry, roofing, +….. and use this in-house expertise to help in assessing whether acute issues involving our facilities could be handled with available volunteers or should be referred to our commercial vendors. Please note if you have skills not mentioned above that you feel would benefit All Saints', we’d love to hear from you too! This compilation of in-house trade knowledge would provide both a valuable and reassuring resource of counsel to the Rector and Junior Warden when issues occasionally arise.

Please contact Mark Walker, marwalk@gmail.com, if you are interested in sharing your knowledge or have any questions, comments or suggestions regarding this important stewardship opportunity.
