The Enigma of Elgar
Saturday 25th March, 7.30-9.30pm
Michael Lunts presents a one-man musical drama about Edward Elgar's life, focusing on his complex relationship with his beloved wife, Alice. The subject is the origin of Elgar’s masterwork ‘Enigma Variations’, and the inspiration the composer took from his wife and friends.
Featuring a live performance of ‘Enigma Variations’ transcribed for piano by Elgar himself, a rendition of the popular ‘Salut d’ Amour’, and dramatic portrayals of Elgar and characters from his life. The result is a special portrait-in-music of this timeless artist.
“A seamless interweaving of words and music… a performance of unmistakeable distinction” The Guardian
