It's the Wednesday Email!Dear Church- The Ankeny UCC church profile was posted Tuesday on the national website! Thanks to The Search and Call Committee members and all who helped to complete the profile. UCC Associate Minister Karen Georgia Thompson asks that we remain mindful of the suffering of earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria (the most recent estimates are of 11,000 dead). She shares a prayer: God of grace and mercy, there are many who are suffering loss today. Around the world and in our communities we are mourning. Today we come holding in our prayers our siblings in Turkey and Syria who are still searching and rescuing survivors and victims of this earthquake. Be present with these families and communities during this time of crisis and need. Be a source of strength and comfort through these days ahead. Help us to be present on behalf of those in need. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen. For those who are interested, a link to make a donation through the UCC webpage follows. Grace and Peace, Linda

And Serving Beyond |
Turkey and Syria Earthquake Victims and Survivors | “We were awakened to the news of another tragedy in the global community,” said UCC Associate Minister Karen Georgia Thompson. “The impact of this earthquake on the border of Syria and Turkey was felt as far as Cyprus, Lebanon, and Greece. The death toll continues to climb in a region that is already vulnerable as a result of the more than decade long war in Syria. The UCC has issued an appeal to assist those affected in the region. Please designate International Emergency on this donation page to support this response. |

Iowans for Ukrainians Fair Volunteer Request | Katie Seifert of Iowans for Ukrainians reached out to see if we would like to have a table at their fair February 24th at Fox Brewing from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Katie says they are looking for local religious organizations to participate who can share community resources with the Ukrainian refugees. If you are interested, contact Katie directly at kcseifert108@gmail.com or Sue Broadbooks at sbroadbooks@gmail.com. Iowans for Ukrainians is a 501c3 non-profit founded and based in Iowa which provides help to Ukrainians as they face the present war. While they provide funds to Ukrainians in Ukraine, this fair is focused on those who are newly arrived (refugees) to Iowa. They are seeking an array of local experts who can provide valuable information about navigating life in Iowa and are inviting various religious organizations because they provide such critical services to people. For more information, see Iowansforukrainians.org, and on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Iowans4Ukrainians/ |
