Grateful for his vocation, for the confidence of the bishop, for the gift of God, Mauricio Meneses begins his new task as pastoor of our parish. In the crowded installation celebration in the St. Antonius van Padua Church last sunday, Vicar Hans Pauw addressed the new pastoor: "You reflect the joy of faith". The Vice President of the Parish Council Bert Ferbeda handed over the keys to the churches for which Mauricio has responsibility.
At the end of the celebration, father Mauricio took the stand and said he was inspired by the principles of Pope Francis:
Time over space
Unity wins over conflict
Reality is more important than the idea
The whole takes precedence over the part
Father Mauricio believes in the power of organization, communication and dialogue where there is respect for each other. He also addressed the international community: "I know what it means to learn a new language. I know what it means to live in another country. I know what it means to be an outsider. It is a great blessing to be able to be your pastoor. Pray for your pastoor. You are always welcome!"

Holy Mass Schedule February 2023
In the Holy Mass schedule you can find all celebrations and activities at a glance.
There is one addition to the general schedule this month on the 22nd of february, Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the season of preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday.
There will be 2 Holy Masses in Wageningen that day. One in the morning as usual at 9:00 AM and another one in the afternoon at 19:00 PM.

Who is Monique?
"On January 29, I joined the International Holy Mass in the St. John the Baptist Church in Wageningen for the first time. The celebration was beautiful and I really enjoyed the African songs. After the celebration I got to meet the ICC; I experienced it as a warm welcome.
Farther Erik has asked me to temporarily take care of the newsletter for ICC until a successor from within the community comes forward. In my daily life I work as a marketeer and have had the opportunity to send out many newsletters. I feel blessed to be able to contribute to the ICC and look forward to working with you.
I will take over from Birgitte, who did a great job in informing you about all the happenings in the parish during the past years. Thank you very much for your dedication.

Join the Alpha course
On Monday, Jan. 30, the new Alpha course began in our parish. In about 10 to 12 meetings, we discover the basics of the Christian faith where we discuss a new topic each evening where you can ask all your questions.
Why Alpha?
Meet, question and discover! The Alpha Course is designed to get to know each other in a casual way, to talk together and discover more about the meaning of life and the Christian faith. Or maybe you just want to refresh your knowledge about faith. You can do that too!
Who is Alpha for?
For anyone who enjoys meeting others and talking about questions about the meaning of life and faith.
What does an Alpha evening look like?
We always start the evening with a moment of meeting to get to know each other better and where there is room for friendship.Then we first listen to a video or speaker on a topic about faith. Then we share our thoughts and ideas in a small discussion group. It is an opportunity to listen to each other in a sincere, friendly and confidential environment with respect for everyone's opinions.

Pilgrimage Lourdes 2023
From April 29 to May 6, 2023, the Archdiocese of Utrecht is organizing a pilgrimage to Lourdes for the fifth time. Our new pastor Mauricio Meneses will join our parish group. The youth choir JKA has been asked by the Archdiocese to be the official choir for this pilgrimage.
The plan is to hold a meeting on the 18th of February at 1:30 p.m. in the Verrijzeniszaal in Wageningen (the meeting will be in Dutch). During this meeting, information will be given to all those interested about the mode of transportation, the prices, the official program of the Archdiocese and the parallel program for our parish.

Will you go with us to the WYD?
The World Youth Days will be in Lisbon, Portugal in August. It is a major Catholic event bringing together hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world. With our parish, we are joining the journey of the dioceses of Utrecht, Roermond, Rotterdam and Breda. Will you also join us?
From the Netherlands, young people from 16 to 30 years of age will travel together. The trip from July 24th until August 9th starts at departure from the Netherlands and not in Lisbon. The program is broad, including celebrating, praying, singing, eating, sports, deepening your faith, having fun together and getting to know new people and cultures.
Info evening, March 11th
Are you curious about this trip and do you want to know more? Then come to the information meeting on Saturday, March 11th at 8 p.m. in the Johannes de Doperkerk in Wageningen (meeting will be in Dutch). On this evening you will hear all about the trip and you can ask all your questions. Of course it is also very nice to meet other young people here who are thinking about going to the WJD. We will make it a pleasant evening.
