Our 'Advancing Your Yoga' series is one of our all time favorites at Mandala. It gives students a chance to work on specific poses, learn more about the body, and refine your practice in a focused way.

ADVANCING YOUR YOGA:
ARM BALANCES WITH RENATA

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH WITH RENATA

Arm balances are challenging, gravity-defying, and often confounding asanas to unpack. In fact, some of these postures (think flying crow, firefly, and eight-angle pose) can seem entirely out of reach.

But these fancy shapes offer us so much to work with, and are far more valuable than material for an impressive Instagram post. It may be that the true benefits of arm balances lie in the steps we take to approach them rather than achieving the full expression of the pose. 

In this workshop we’ll explore a series of arm balances from the ground up, breaking down their foundational elements and mechanics to demystify these poses. We will do this by combining asana (physical alignment), pranayama (breath work), and philosophy (why are we doing any of this, anyway?) to make arm balances the liberating and harmonious experiences they are meant to be.
