Curriculum Team
Four lesson repositories have entered the next stage of beta testing for The Carpentries Workbench. The repositories for the Instructor Training curriculum, and three Data Carpentry lessons (Análisis y visualización de datos usando Python, Introduction to Geospatial Raster and Vector Data with R, and R for Social Scientists) have now adopted the new lesson infrastructure, and releases were made to Zenodo to preserve the last version of the lessons using the old infrastructure.
The usual lesson URLs will provide the lesson websites with the familiar layout during this next stage of the Beta Phase, but from now on any new contributions to the lesson repositories will be made to the new folder structure and adjusted file formats. The new lesson website layout will become the default for these four lesson sites when the Beta Phase ends in April.
Visit the Workbench homepage for more details about the Beta Phase and what is coming next.
Library Carpentry Curriculum Advisory Committee
Members of the Library Carpentry Curriculum Advisory Committee will be collaborating with the Curriculum Team to develop Instructor Onboarding materials for the lesson program. Curriculum Onboarding materials are intended to provide Instructors with an overview of the curriculum and prepare them to teach it for the first time. While completing this project, the Curriculum Advisors will pilot a new template and workflow for Instructor Onboarding presentations, in anticipation of a wider effort to provide onboarding materials for Instructors across all of The Carpentries official curricula in 2023.
