Hi <<First Name>>,

Ten Things On My Mind.

1. Turkey and Syria. Lord, have mercy.

2. “I have food for the day and my child is in school. It is enough.” A Kenyan mother said this joyfully to my wife last week. Tara’s just returned from two weeks spent largely in the slums of Nairobi. Thank you for your prayers on behalf of her and another sister in Christ, Sue Detweiler.

3. There is so much need all over the world. There are also remarkable stories of Jesus-followers living faithfully and sacrificially in some very difficult places.

4. Ice storm gone. Thursday night service is back this week! As for the next message in our “Flourish” series? The power of shame. Did you know that shame slows us down neurologically? That’s not the only way shame interferes with our flourishing. Learning how to deal with shame makes a practical difference in our capacity to live in healthy ways. Why does it matter that Adam and Eve felt no shame before sin entered the picture? How do we deal with it in our lives now that it is in the picture? Come and bring a friend this weekend!

5. Celebrate Recovery. Don’t forget this incredible resource for helping people face and overcome all kinds of hurts, habits, and hang-ups in a Christ-centered context. It meets at 7:00 pm Tuesday nights at the Vista Ridge Campus.

6. Galentines and Palentines. March 3rd-4th. This is a golden opportunity to help your 8th-12th grade student connect with other students, and talk about important things in a Christ-centered context. Register here!

7. Colossians. There is a great need today for a faith that’s deeply rooted. The book of Colossians is for this day and age in which we are in. It has much to teach us about flourishing in Christ over the long haul and through so much that life throws at us. We’ll dive into Colossians in a couple of weeks. It’ll take us all the way up to Easter.

8. Portillo’s. I went with the #1. I didn’t want to wait long in line. So I went at 3:30 pm. And proceeded to wait 30 minutes. Nevertheless, it was delicious.

9. Kyrie Irving to the Mavs. This will be interesting.

10. I’m not a fan, but I’ll say it. Eagles over Chiefs. The best offensive line in football and their pass defense.

See you Thursday or Sunday!

Grace and Peace,
Chris
