RADIO DUNGOG FUNDING
MUSIC TO OUR EARS
The Premier and Upper Hunter MP Dave Layzell also announced further funding yesterday for our much-loved Radio Dungog, or as it is now known - Dungog Community Radio.
The grant for $248,309 includes a building upgrade to provide fit-for-purpose studios allowing the not-for-profit group to improve broadcasting services and build an improved studio.
With the new facilities comes opportunity for the committee members to explore more of what would interest their listeners- think social history, current news and events, plus education for Dungog High School students that have an interest to pursue music, journalism, or communications.
10 JOB VACANCIES NOW LIVE
ON NEW COUNCIL WEBSITE
Dungog Shire Council is making it even easier to apply for a role with the release of a new recruitment portal which will receive its first influx of candidates with the release of 10 job vacancies.
Welcomed news for anyone looking for employment locally – the vacancies in outdoor staffing across various roles include civil works roles, plant and garden maintenance, general labour operator and a plant operator team leader.
It is worth noting that in some way, these vacancies have impacted our ability to deliver on our works programs, and this will begin to appease as we fill our vacant roles. We also partner with training organisations and recruiters to match the right person with the right career. In fact, we are currently advertising for a Corporate Services trainee in partnership with HVTC, and another trainee role will be advertised in the coming weeks.
With our new recruitment portal we have designed a customised system that easily takes candidates through the elements of a job application from addressing selection criteria to uploading supporting documentation and providing plenty of opportunities to show off a candidate’s skills and attributes.
Current positions vacant are advertised on our website and LinkedIn.
WELCOME POTHOLE RELIEF FUNDING
Earlier this week we welcomed a $1.316 million funding boost as Council continues the colossal task of repairing roads damaged by flooding and extreme wet weather events in 2022.
This critical funding injection will help us patch up an estimated 10,000 square metres of emergency repair works on our road network. The works to be undertaken will focus on restoring the integrity of the Shire’s road surfaces with heavy patching and improve outcomes for motorists.
It is a great start for us to address those highest priority pothole and heavy patching works that simply can’t wait. The state of our road network is dire, we don’t shy away from that fact, which is why funding like this is so vital for us.
