...weekly bulletin...

February 9, 2023
Dear <<First Name>>,

The Art of Pottery

The Gr. 8/9 Art option in our School for Boys and the School for Girls got messy at North Mount Pleasant Arts Centre where they made decorative clay plates! They focused on creating texture and building with coils. As they practiced these new skills they were challenged to be Resilient, Relentless, and Resourceful in bringing their ideas to life. The boys and girls were very Responsible and Respectful as they took care of the studio space, materials, and learned how to clean up afterwards. They worked together in cleaning up: the boys took on cleaning the tools, and the girls cleaned up the tables and floors. Everyone earned an R today! We’re excited to see their final products after they get fired in the kiln.

Currie Campus has been keeping busy. Last week students in our High School visited the Flying Squirrel trampoline park and our Gr. 9's enjoyed some time playing laser tag together at Laser City. This week, all students taking an art option went to North Mount Pleasant Art Centre to learn about and create clay pottery, and all of our PE students attended the Calgary Curling Club to curl! To end this week, our Gr. 8 and 9 boys will be heading out to Arbour Lake for an afternoon of ice fishing, skating, and ice hockey!
This week marked a special occasion for the Girls School. We had our very first group shadow day students for girls entering Gr. 2-3! Our current Girls School students had an opportunity to take on leadership roles and participate in this shadow day experience. We also had a group shadow day for students entering Gr. 7-9 this week as well. The classroom was buzzing as we filled the classroom with 12 girls. Certainly lots of curiosity, laughter and learning!
Midterm Exam Mark Statements were sent home on Tuesday, Feb. 7 this week, and Diploma marks will be available on myPass from Alberta Education by tomorrow, Feb. 10 at the latest.

Finally, a friendly reminder to families to please ensure that your child is coming to school in NP uniform and also that they are prepared with their required PE uniform as well. Thank you for your support!
