Project Add/Drop Deadline Approaching:

The deadline to add or drop projects is 5:00 PM on March 1, 2023. Please view the image for instructions for editing projects, or feel free to fill out the 4-H Project Drop/Add form and we’ll get your project updated.

Please make sure that you are in the project and unit you think you are in. This will be the project that is eligible to be entered in the Pueblo County Fair. You will also need to complete the project this year if you plan to take it next year.

You can now either purchase project manuals directly from the publisher, or you can download project manuals in .pdf form from the website.  For complete details, check out our Project Manuals Page. You do not need to order manuals every year unless the manuals have been updated or the project exhibit requires pages from the Project Manual.

If the manual is published by Colorado State University, it will be on the website as a downloadable .pdf. If the manual is published by any other institution, you’ll need to purchase it. Details can be found on the Project Manuals Page.

You can find project information including e-records and tips sheets at Colorado State 4-H Project Information. For questions, contact Jen Loewen.

Meat Quality Assurance Training on March 10:

Attention all 4-H or FFA Livestock Project Members!

Per the Colorado 4-H/FFA Meat Quality Assurance Guidelines:

“4-H/FFA members enrolling in any market and/or breeding livestock projects for the first time regardless of age, must attend a Colorado 4-H Meat Quality Assurance (MQA) program…Colorado 4-H/FFA MQA programs must be conducted by the County 4-H Agent or approved designee. 4-H members will be required to attend a Colorado 4-H/FFA MQA program a minimum of twice during the course of their 4-H career – once as a junior and once again within one year after becoming a senior 4-H member. Members are encouraged to review the information and best practices found in the Colorado 4-H Meat Quality Assurance program annually.”

Please also see the Pueblo County Fair rule regarding the MQA on page 4 of the 2022 Pueblo County Fair Livestock Show Rules.

The Meat Quality Assurance Program will be held Friday, March 10 in the Colorado Building on the Colorado State Fairgrounds from 6:00 to 8:30 PM. The event is structured around rotating to different learning stations, learning about various areas of livestock care, and then taking an MQA Written Test. If your member requires any additional accommodation during the MQA learning stations or during testing, please let us know.

If you are unable to make the March 10 MQA session, you will be required to attend the MQA Make-Up session Thursday, March 30 at 6:00 PM at the Extension Office.

If you have any questions, please contact Jen.
