Slowdown in CSS Processing Times

Public Defense Providers:

We wanted to make you aware of a staff shortage in our CSS department, along with an unusually high volume of requests over the last month, as a result, processing times are likely to be a bit longer than usual. We usually have four people processing all the CSS requests from every attorney in the state that accesses these funds. That is a large task to begin with, and now we are down to only two people. This change in staff was unexpected and we are adjusting as quickly as we can. We have already brought on a temporary staff person this week who will be getting up to speed as quickly as they can. We also hope to have the other position filled in the next few weeks.

Please be assured that we are processing requests as quickly as we are able, and we appreciate your patience during this time. Our goal is to be back to regular processing times by the end of the month. If you would like to make this process smoother and help everyone’s requests to be processed faster, to the degree possible please only use “rush” for impending trial/hearing, double check your case number and client names match, and make sure your signature date is within 3 days of submission.

Thank you for bearing with us as we work to get back on track.
