Keeping the Community Connected:
This Week's Local Program Highlights

February 18, 2023

A Local Episode of Stuck in VT!

We've televised the "Stuck in VT" series from Seven Days newspaper for many years. It's a short weekly program produced by Eva Solleberger. This week's episode features one of our own; Eva heads out on a frozen lake in Plymouth to catch up with Zachary McNaughton & his 6-year-old son, Fisher. It's all about catching smelt & their family's love of fishing. Zach also produces his own fishing series, VT Master Anglers, which we run regularly. His recent seasonally-appropriate  episodes have been about ice fishing - you can "catch" them here.

Story Time- Valensteins

We may be a day late & a dollar short on promoting this one, but...in case you missed it, Valentine's Day was this past week. And Mrs. Kata Welch from the Chester-Andover Elementary School library has a fun book to share for the occasion. Yes, even Frankenstein wants to find love on Valentine's day. This rendition of "Valensteins" by Ethan Long.
"Story Time" - from both Kata and from Cavendish librarian Amy McMullen - can be seen each & every week on Okemo Valley TV's Community channel. Check for times!

ESBR Parent Testimonial

Ludlow resident, parent, & supporter of the Expedtionary School at Black River (ESBR) Becky Wynne shared her  & her family's experience. She talks about the importance of having a safe space to learn and freedom of flexibility set him up for success. To learn more about ESBR, go HERE.

President's Day on the Notch

For President's Day, we're going a few yrs. back to "Coolidge & Lincoln", a 2019 presentation from the Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation up on Plymouth Notch. Calvin Coolidge Presidential Foundation presents the Presidents Day celebration at the State Historic Site, featuring  Coolidge interpreter Tracy Messer's "Coolidge and Lincoln". Playing throughout the week on the Education / Gov't channel.

WEST RIVER WEATHER GUY

Thanks to Chris Blackey for sending us regular weather forecasts for our local area! He's had a busy Winter staying on top all of the wild weather patterns. You can watch his forecasts each week on the Community channel & online! Watch the one for this weekend HERE.

As part of the renewal process for VTel's cable TV license renewal (Certificate of Public Good), the State of Vermont Department of Public Service must conduct a Community Needs Assessment, to evaluate & better determine the list of public interest requirements that should be factored into the new 11-year license. That assessment includes holding focus groups to collect feedback & input on community / PEG Access services in the communities that VTel serves. We are co-hosting one of these focus groups next Friday (Feb 24th at 2pm). Have VTel? Do you use or rely on services from your community ("PEG") Access TV provider (such as us, Okemo Valley TV)? If so, they want to hear from you! You can join in person at Okemo Valley TV or remotely, via Microsoft Teams.
