News from IFLA's ARL Section Committee

Just in case you think we never have any fun .... the ARL Section Committee held its traditional new year catch-up recently, known as CCC (Coffee/Champagne, Connect and Catch-up). No formal agenda, just good conversation and lots of laughs. We held two meetings to cover different time zones, and invited a few friends from IFLA Headquarters too.

IFLA Elections 2023

IFLA is building a strong and united library field and you can be part of it. Wherever you are in the world, if you have energy and time to contribute, we encourage you to consider standing for the Academic and Research Libraries (ARL) Section Committee, which has a number of vacancies. Social justice webinar

The aim of ARL's first webinar for 2023 is to highlight the contributions academic and research libraries are making in the social justice arena. Put Wednesday 29 March in your diary (11am South African Standard Time) and keep an eye on your inbox for more details. The webinar will feature speakers from South Africa and Hong Kong.

Travel grant still open

ARL, with generous sponsorship from Ex Libris and Sage, is offering attendance grants for the World Library and Information Congress 2023 in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

Two successful applicants will be selected from Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific. Each grant covers Congress registration and support for travel and/or accommodation. See our web site for more details.

ARL Satellite Conference

ARL will host a satellite conference preceding the World Library and Information Congress 2023 in Rotterdam, in collaboration with Erasmus University Library and other partners. The conference will take place on 18-19 August at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, with the theme of: Inclusiveness through Openness. More information to follow!
