BC Robbins Art Opening in the Community Room

BC Robbins new artworks are on view for the month of February in the Dobbs Ferry Public Library Community Room Gallery.

Open during library hours. 


“My new work on display focuses on the continuation of a creative process I call Brush Stroke Meditations. I work toward creating an image that will move my senses and pique my curiosity upon viewing.”

Bruce Christopher Robbins is an artist and teacher who works in whatever medium feels best suited for the project being explored. He has an art studio in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and is also an art teacher at The Masters School for the past thirty-one years. Find out more at his website.

Mary's Yarns Crafting Group in the Community Room
Mondays, February 13, March 6, & March 20, 6:00 PM
Adults

Mary’s Yarns Crafting Group will be meeting in the Library Community Room.
February 13 & March 20: Crocheting. We will provide you with the supplies to create a granny square or dishcloth.

March 6: Quilting. This year the quilting group will be making the Ohio Star Pattern, with each member creating one square. When the quilt is finished, it will be raffled to benefit the Friends of the Dobbs Ferry Library.

Even if we're not working on a type of crafting you're interested in, you are welcome to come and chat and work on your own projects! Newcomers are always welcome. Please email dflfriends@gmail.com if you have questions or would like to join!

Virtual Program: Navigating College Admissions Successfully

We’ll examine the holistic admissions review process, what admissions officers consider important when they review applicants, and how students can position themselves to develop a compelling narrative to increase their chances for admission. This program is recommended for parents and their high school teens.

Facilitated by a Professional Career Coach, this 6 week seminar meets virtually once a week for 90 minutes. A virtual orientation with the Career Coach is required prior to the seminar. The program concludes with an individual career coaching session. Registration required; register here.


Paws for Reading with Buddy in the Periodicals Room
Saturday, March 4, 12:00 - 1:00 PM
All Ages

Children read one-on-one with Buddy, a specially trained Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D.) and his handler, Dobbs Ferry resident Marty Kanengiser. Children will select a book to read to Buddy before the program begins, and they will spend 10-15 minutes reading aloud. They are also welcome to ask questions about Buddy, a 12-year-old rescued black lab who loves children, other dogs, and reading.

Virtual Program: Importance of the Mind-Body-Spirit Connection in Times of Stress and Anxiety

wellness. Many studies have shown that these techniques can have physical and mental health
benefits, including less stress and anxiety, reduced depressive symptoms, better sleep,
reduced pain, improved brain function, better-coping skills, and increased resilience.
Dr. Scalora will discuss Mind-Body-Spirit techniques that enhance the connection between your
mind, emotions, body, and spirit to boost resilience to deal with daily stress more effectively to
increase inner peace, well-being, and happiness.
