Our popular manga sale continues to the end of the week. Find Japanese and English manga at bargain prices in the tatami room on the second floor. Entire sets of manga are available for purchase.

Okaeri おかえり – Return from Exile: All Paths Lead Home


Okaeri おかえり is an oral history project by the NNMCC featuring 21 interviews with Japanese Canadians who lived through the Second World War. It will launch on February 20th as part of BC Heritage Week.

We will have guest speakers share their stories in a free one-hour webinar on February 25th, 11AM-12PM. Register here.

Spring Break Manga Camp

March 13-17, 2023 | 9:30AM - 4PM
Ages 9-12

The warming weather means that Spring Break Manga Camp is on its way! There are still a few seats left for this exciting week-long day camp filled with Japanese culture, arts, and of course – manga.

Manga Camp kids will get to participate in a lineup of workshops by local Vancouver comic artists who will share their knowledge of illustration, storytelling, and design. They'll create their own manga and take home a copy of their comic booklet at the end of the week. Talk about a fun way to spend Spring Break!

Japanese Canadians farmed 80% of the strawberries in the Fraser Valley region of British Columbia at its peak before the Second World War.

Use hot water boiled at 85 ℃ and steep for 2-3 minutes. If you leave it longer, you may lose the pink hue.

All organic ingredients: sencha, blackberry, strawberry, rose petal, marigold.

The NNMCC is looking to employ a full-time Research Archivist. This will be a permanent position.

The Research Archivist will participate in preserving and making accessible archival material related to the history of Japanese Canadians. They will coordinate and oversee reference services and provide high-quality customer service.
