New Call for Art
Inspire(d) is the Dayton Society of Artists’ 2023 annual spring juried exhibition. The call for art is open to all mediums, techniques, and styles. Work is encouraged to, but does not have to fit the theme, inspire(d) (to inspire or be inspired). Any artist, 18 years or older, is eligible to enter. The juror is James Pate and over $1,000 will be awarded in prizes! Please note: all entries will be digitally submitted and juried instead of physically at the gallery. CALENDAR:

Haren’s Market (2 East Main Street, Troy, OH) is proud to announce a special evening as they will host an exhibit opening for local artist William III and "Images of the Old West" on February 17th, 2023 (6pm to 8pm). William's paintings of the old west will be displayed for patrons to enjoy while Haren's will offering an exciting old west menu of cocktails and appetizers.
"The success of Haren's Market downtown has been amazing and I consider it a privilege to have my artwork on display in the mezzanine. I have had 'Birds in Flight' on display there since last summer and Connor and I thought it was time to change it up a bit. This time with even more paintings and a special evening of themed cocktails and appetizers as well.", said the artist.
Haren's will be staying open late that evening for this special event, however anyone that is unable to attend will have an opportunity to view the artwork as it will be up at least for the next several months.
Overview: Summer Series is a multi-venue program that showcases short- and long-term projects such as gallery exhibitions, performances, audience participatory work, discussions, research demos, and more. This series encourages collaboration, multidisciplinary approaches, and ideas that foster conversations, relationships, or careers, that represent diverse perspectives.
Summer Series is open to proposals from applicants who are currently studying, living, or working in the state of Ohio.

The 29th Annual Art Auction is The Contemporary Dayton’s (The Co) primary fundraiser—a lively, casual event of 600-700 guests eating, drinking, and bidding on 75+ original works of art donated by area artists ranging purchase price from $75-and up, taking place in the Dayton Arcade Rotunda and The Co’s galleries on April 28, 2023.

Olin Art Gallery, Washington & Jefferson College
The Olin Art Gallery on the campus of Washington & Jefferson College, Washington, PA, is now accepting exhibition proposals in any medium for the 2023-24 academic year. Proposals may include solo or group exhibitions. Submissions must include: 10-20 digital images (jpg-format), contact information, artist statements for all participating artists, an image list (including title, media, size, and date completed for each work), and a resume or CV. Proposals will be accepted via email only (email should be no larger than 10m - ZIP file, Mac compatible, preferred).
Established and emerging artists are encouraged to apply. Artists receive an honorarium and limited reimbursement to help cover expenses, shipping, travel to campus for installations, artist lectures, workshops, or demonstrations.
There is NO entry fee.
The application must be received by March 15, 2023.

-The piece must consist primarily from re-used, re-purposed or recycled items and contain at least 5 pieces of litter found in public parks and spaces.
-Artist should include a written explanation with their piece that is not to exceed 150 words and should thoroughly explain all recycled elements used.
-Work must be original.
-Giclees, copies, reproductions or kit work will not be accepted.
-Artists are responsible for delivery, set up, pickup & removal of work and any costs associated.
-A limited number of tables are available to use. The tables are 3’x3’.
JUDGING:
-All entries will be judged and awarded on event day.
-Judging will take place in three age categories: 12 and under, 13-17, and 18 and up.
-Entries will be judged on the following aspects; use of recycled materials, overall artistic aesthetic, and the sustainability of the final work (meaning; is this work a lasting and displayable piece of artwork). The combined scores of these three ratings will be used to assign awards
-Tie scores will be left to the judge’s discretion in awarding
-Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded
-Artists are encouraged to attend for in-person acceptance and recognition
The Neon Heater is a contemporary artist-run space in Findlay, OH with monthly exhibitions featuring a curatorial focus on conceptual and installation based works, contemporary photography and painting trends, and video and new media.
We are currently seeking proposals for solo artist and small group exhibitions exploring contemporary issues such as the climate, the socio-political landscape, geopolitics, speculative futures, retconned pasts, Apocalyptic narratives, fresh starts, and anything in-between that explores, critiques or promotes the present moment.

-Must be original 2D or 3D work
-Inspired by a scene of Community Park Reserve or Hebble Creek Reserve created in 2022/2023 before June 24, 2023. Work previously shown not eligible.
-Work may be Oil, Acrylic, Pastel, Watercolor, Print, Drawing, Mixed Media, or Photography. 3D art must be less than 60 lbs.
-2D work must not exceed 30 x 40 inches.

2023-2024 Montgomery County Special Projects Grant Cycle
I wanted to be sure you’d seen the news that the 2023 Montgomery County Special Projects Grant cycle launched this week, and Culture Works is accepting intent to apply forms through March 3, 2023 at 4pm EST.
The Montgomery County Arts & Cultural District (MCACD), with support from the Board of County Commissioners, is providing $300,000 for the 2023 grant cycle, which will be administered by Culture Works. Montgomery County organizations can request grants of up to $10,000 for arts and cultural projects happening between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024.
Who Can Apply:
The Special Projects Grants program is open to small and mid-sized arts and cultural organizations, other nonprofits, schools, colleges, universities, municipalities, and government agencies that are located in or provide a majority of programming and services in Montgomery County. Coalitions and other unincorporated organizations may also apply in partnership with a nonprofit, tax-exempt fiscal agent. Arts and cultural organizations--and their auxiliary groups--that already receive general operating support from MCACD are not eligible to apply. Read the full program guidelines here.
Artist Grant
Founded in 2017, Artist Grant is a new venture that aims to support and fund artists. To that end, this charitable organization funds the efforts of artists to continue their important work and contributions to society, providing a modest competitive grant of $500 to one artist every quarter.
Deadline: There are four grant cycles per year – January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15. The deadline for the current grant cycle is January 15, 2023. If you are interested in receiving deadline reminder notifications, please subscribe to their mailing list.

Award: $500 each grant cycle
Who: Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, stills of video/film, sculpture (of any type of material), ceramics, mixed/multiple media, installation, and other new or alternative media.
Established in 2006 by artist Ed Levine to support emerging and under-recognized visual artists. Through grants and residency programs, the Foundation seeks to stimulate creative inquiry and encourage new modes of making and thinking about art.

Award: Up to $10,000. The number of awards is determined each year by the annual granting budget.
Who: Self-defined under-recognized visual artist 21 years or older, and must be a United States citizen
Established as part of Lee Krasner’s legacy, the Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant was set up to support and strengthen the creative lives of artists. A competitive grant for artists with extensive exhibition records, this grant has a long list of impressive alumni. Since its start in 1985, the foundation has granted over 65 million dollars in award money to artists in over 77 countries.
Deadline: Ongoing
Award: Awards range from $5,000 to $30,000, depending on need and circumstance
Who: Mid-career professional artists with demonstrable financial need. Artists must be actively exhibiting their current work in professional artistic venues, such as gallery and museum spaces; Painters, sculptors, and artists who work on paper, including printmaking. Commercial artists, video artists, performance artists, filmmakers, crafts-makers, and computer artists are not eligible. Students not eligible. Requirements for consideration are the application form, a cover letter, a current resume including an exhibition record, and ten digital images of current work with a corresponding identification list.

Language of Art is DAI’s book club series for adults, young adults, and lifelong learners. An Educator or Curator selects a reading and guides an hour-long discussion that connects the book’s themes to collection artworks or to exhibitions.
