Hello Everyone,
We would like to welcome a host of new customers from the Enumclaw Wine and Chocolate Festival to our email newsletter for February. We poured over 600 tastes of three of our current favorite wines over two days and thoroughly enjoyed the people of Enumclaw and the surrounding area. The diversity of Northwest artists and businesses represented at the Festival make it a truly unique and exciting weekend.
We thank everyone who joined us and welcome you to our newsletter. We hope we can see all of you again soon at the winery.
Remember that we will deliver 3 + bottles free of charge to the Seattle Metro Area. Let us know if you are missing our wines and would like delivery. We wish everyone a wonderful 2023 enjoying our wines with friends and family. Hope we see you soon.

February Special Offer
This month we move strongly into a celebration of the 2017 vintage as it matures in bottle. It has arrived and I love it now. As many of you know, we appreciate our wines with significant bottle age and consider our efforts to promote older wines a part of our style and mission at :Nota Bene. Our wines soften with time and show delicate flavors that emerge when patience and a reductive environment is employed in the cellar. During our trip to Bordeaux last May we saw that the French have been using cellaring time to elevate the character of their wines for centuries. Let's review each of our February Special Offer wines briefly and invite you to taste them with us on Saturday.
I'd like to begin our review with the 2017 MCM Majestic Red Blend, a true Left Bank Bordeaux-style blend crafted with four of the traditional Bordeaux varietals. We traveled to Bordeaux last year to regain our excitement for the region and varietals. We succeeded beyond our expectations, or more clearly, Bordeaux won our hearts with its beauty, food, and wines. Four vineyards contributed wine to this blend: Stonetree dominates with components of both Cabernet and our award winning 2017 Petit Verdot, followed by Merlot from Dineen, Arianses and Ciel du Cheval making up a third and ending with a significant contribution from Dineen Cabernet Franc.
In Washington State and other New World wine regions we like to bottle Cabernet Sauvignon on its own in lieu of blending. Even though the French would not choose this direction, we chose to blend Cabernet from three wonderful vineyards. With the 2017 MCM Illumina Cabernet Sauvignon, our goal was to increase the complexity and depth of flavors with nuances from each wine coming together to amplify the resulting blend: Cabernet Sauvignon in equal parts from Ciel du Cheval Vineyard, Dineen Vineyard, and Heart of the Hill Vineyard. Thus, this wine is two thirds Red Mountain AVA and not a shrinking violet although violets surely contribute to the aroma profile. The $30 price point for a wine with these lovely vineyards is ridiculous. We think it's time to cheer this wine on at a dinner soon.
In 2017 Dineen Vineyard blessed us with three wonderful wines. What better way to celebrate than by putting equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc together in a vineyard designated blend to honor the Bordeaux wine region. During our visit to Bordeaux, we were unable to find a red wine that was not a blend and these three varietals were the dominant contributors in the Médoc. We also have all of these varietals bottled on their own for this vintage, so it may be possible to deconstruct this blend if you open all four wines at once! The 2017 :Nota Bene Dineen Vineyard Red Blend is showing how well Dineen Vineyard is developing in the Yakima Valley. Celibrate with us.

Phinney Neighborhood Association Tasting
|
|
|
The Phinney Neighborhood Association has scheduled another fun night at their lovely community center on Phinney Ridge across the street from our favorite Seattle Thai restaurant, Thaiku. Have dinner and then join us and nine other wineries in a tasting at PNA. Bottles will be for sale to take home after the event. Proceeds from the event benefit the non-profit association. This is always a good crowd with live music and snacks to accompany the wines. A fun time in a great part of the city.
