Taking that glorious first step
(pic from today)
Damned if you don't
Start too quickly and risk suboptimization - a fate worse than death! Start too late and risk not starting at all.

A little thoughtful and clever procrastination is good, it makes for a smart start, for choosing between alternatives, for considering the endgame. Unfortunately, a little pc can lead to a little more, and then some..., which precisely describes the very process of procrastination, which happens to be the diametrical opposite of my effective motto "Just One"

Just one
Action begets action, so it actually always is best to get going, albeit duly prepared for course-correcting, for being "wrong", for having to begin again, for admitting to and forgiving yourself for not knowing anything at all.

Today I just want to convey one little thing, and that's reminding you of the highlighted part of the last sentence in the following picture:

Starting takes courage. Course-correcting too. It's scary, I know. We like the status quo. We know that devil. At least we think we do. But taking that first step into new lands, however small, is glorious. It's what we are here on Earth for, for experiencing. Analyzing concepts and theorizing you can do in Plato-land as a dimensionless mind. Life in 3D is for first-person sensing. If you're sad or scared or infatuated, be those things, own them straight on, instead of invoking, e.g., your childhood, spring or long lost loves.

We chose to be dis-membered from the Whole, to forget what we are, in order to go here to learn about otherness, and through that ultimately learn about our true essence. When our time here is up we will re-member the Whole, and be re-minded as one.

FYI, it's not important that you buy into this foundational quantum mechanics stuff to get the message about needing opposites, distance and perspective in order to truly experience and understand something. It boils down to needing to begin, to take a first step, to have the courage to start.

Wu Wei
Once you've got some momentum all you have to do is occasionally, lazily, turn the wheel ever so slightly. Wu Wei-style. Small beginnings, small course corrections, with the natural flow, will take you beyond.

LLL
The best thing is that everyday is an opportunity for reclaiming the happiness of actually having started. I, e.g., feel it everyday that I start Scrivener to face my book project. Though it is daunting too. Of course it is. But then I just make lower the threshold to start even more to LLL - Ludicrously Low Level.

I think I might write a few words about 'authenticity' next time - is it even theoretically possible to not be your own authentic self? Free-will:er or not, how can you choose not to be the real, authentic you?

Kind regards,

/Sprezza
