CALVARY CHAPEL LIVING WORD WOMEN'S MINISTRY
Hello Sisters,

As I'm sitting here on this cold, rainy morning with a cup of hot chocolate in my hand, I'm thinking of you.  This past Monday evening was our first study in the book of Ruth.  Even being familiar with the story of Ruth and Boaz, I'm finding so many things to "ponder" on. I always knew it was a story of redemption and love, but what I'm finding anew is the friendship in it, and that makes me think of you.  I believe God has put us in each other's lives for a purpose - to encourage, support, laugh with, or cry with.

In our study we learned that Ruth's name in Hebrew means "friend" and "companion."  I pray as we travel this road together that we all can be a Ruth to each other.

It's never too late to join us on Monday nights as we continue in this study.  We would look forward to being a Ruth to you.

With love,
Carol Deckard

Meet the Sheep
This month we'd like to get to know Miray Jaksa a little better.  Here is her story of how she became a follower of Jesus:

"Simply put I was lost and now I’m found!  It all began with God’s rescue mission of a lost, little girl.  I didn’t grow up in a Christian home per say.  I have early memories of going to Candlelight Christmas Eve service with my mom, we celebrated Easter, my parents always had me pray before meals, but there was no foundation of God’s Word being taught or going to a Bible teaching church.  I did though have a praying Grandma!

When I was ten years old, I was invited to Pioneer Girls at Calvary Church in Santa Ana.  I can remember praying to ask Jesus in my heart with my leader Perky!  For several years my parents dropped me off Sunday mornings and for church events.  My favorite song was King Jesus Is All…My All in All.  As I got into high school, my relationship with the Lord fell apart and I eventually stopped going to church.  Like most teenagers, I was ruled by culture and my emotions rather than the Word of God, which left me lost and empty.

But God, who is rich in mercy, sent someone to invite me to a Friday Night High School Home Fellowship through Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.  It was there that Ephesians 2:1-10 came alive for me; the Love and Grace of God met me and washed over me like a wave of living water.  In August of 1988 I rededicated my life to Jesus and started attending Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa.  I can honestly say, I was one way and now I’m different, and what happened in the middle was Him!"

Monthly Devotional

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7

I have a wonderful life…I am living life as a blessed lady!  However, when I was diagnosed with a health condition a few years ago, it spiraled me into six weeks of anxiety.  I had never experienced such a thing in all of my life!  The Lord pulled me out of it quickly and set my feet on firm ground.  He visited me in the night hours and commanded me not to be afraid.  He also showed me that He was using this “thorn in my flesh” for His glory and to draw me closer to Him.  I was reminded to take one day at a time, for this is His will.  I learned the importance of taking my thoughts captive and putting into practice that God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, and love and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7) and another great verse think it not strange, count it all joy (I Peter 4:12-13).

There are times I feel completely healed and praise Him for it.  If He chooses not to heal me, He will give me the patience and strength that I need to endure it.  It’s a win/win!
