NFI powers Philadelphia’s sustainable mobility with New Flyer’s fuel cell-electric buses
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (“SEPTA”), America’s sixth-largest transit agency, has announced a new order for ten New Flyer zero-emission, hydrogen fuel cell-electric 40-foot transit buses. The order was funded through the Federal Transit Administration's Low to No Emission Vehicle Deployment ("LoNo") grant program for SEPTA's zero-emission bus pilot which embraces new technologies to reduce emissions for healthier Philadelphia communities.
Each New Flyer hydrogen bus will avoid up to 135 tons of greenhouse gas per year from tailpipe emissions compared to a diesel bus. With the only output from a tailpipe being water, New Flyer’s fuel cell-electric buses will deliver unmatched clean air benefits to many communities in Philadelphia.
