Pharmacy Appreciation Month: Thank You!

PEICP would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of all pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, students and other pharmacy staff members.  Thank you for your unwavering commitment to quality pharmacy care in the province of PEI.  The College would also like to thank those pharmacy professionals who contribute their knowledge and skills by acting as preceptors and College assessors, sitting on College committees and serving on Council.  Your contributions are essential to fulfilling the College's mission.

Registration Renewal Portal

The PEI College of Pharmacy annual renewal period is now open until March 15, 2023.  Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians are required to renew their registration before the deadline in the Registrant Portal.  Please see the 2023 Registration Renewal Guide for assistance.

As a requirement of renewal, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians must:

  • Enter a minimum of 20 CEUs into the Continuing Education Tab in the menu.
  • Ensure that an up-to-date professional liability insurance policy certificate is on file with the College.
  • Ensure that an up-to-date Criminal Record Check is on file with the College.  (The expiry date can now be accessed in the registrant portal.)
  • Ensure certification in CPR and First Aid is up-to-date and a certificate is on file with the College (applies to all pharmacists, and applies to pharmacy technicians who have EPC in drug administration.)
Permit renewal will now be completed within the Business Portal.

Extended Practice Certifications can be renewed in the Registrant Portal under the "Authorization" menu option.  This is an additional step to registration renewal.  Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians who plan to act as a preceptor in 2023/2024 are also asked to apply for a Supervisor authorization.

College Seeking Assessors for IPG Assessments

The PEI College of Pharmacy, as part of the review of the pathway for registration for internationally trained pharmacists, has adopted the Practice Assessment at Entry to Practice (PACE) program for the assessment phase of the pathway.  As a result, the College is also changing the way in which Assessors are identified and ensuring that the roles of the Assessor versus a Preceptor are delineated.

The College is inviting pharmacists to submit an application to act as a College Assessor, including those who have conducted assessments of internationally trained pharmacists under the previous registration pathway.  Those interested are asked to submit an Assessor Application by March 10, 2023. The application and assessor criteria can be found below.
