NPM CHAPTER SOCIAL APRIL 20, 2023

We have heard from you, our members, that you are interested in resuming in-person NPM chapter events. It's been a long time since we have been able to gather in person!

You are invited to a networking and social event Thursday, April 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lake, Lake Oswego. All local chapter NPM members as well as other pastoral musicians and choir members are invited. Encourage others in your parish to come.

This event is mostly social, with a chance to meet other musicians, share stories and ideas, and pray and sing together. We will hear a short presentation from Ken Canedo on his new book.

The NPM Chapter Core Team will be providing wine and other beverages. This event is free. Please bring an appetizer to share. Join us as we continue to celebrate the Easter Season.

Workshop: Saturday April 22, 9:00 AM - Noon, Celebration Hall, Holy Family Catholic Church, Corner of SE Flavel St. and SE Cesar Chavez Blvd.

Both events are free. A free-will offering will be taken up at both events.

Singers and instrumentalists are needed to perform at the concert. If you are interested, please contact Chris Brunelle, csbrunelle@msn.com. Rehearsal will be April 20 at 7:00PM.

NPM National Convention

Prepare to attend the National NPM Convention in Reno, NV on July 10-14, 2023.

There is also the option to attend virtually, July 18-20.

NPM National dues are increasing this year, as of Feb 1, 2023. Details are available here.

If you are not currently an NPM National member, take advantage of the 30 day trial membership at no cost. Details and how to register are available here.

There is a new online member portal called the NPM Music Room. Members can access these services using this link.

Membership Reminder

Local events and communications are funded by voluntary donations from our members. Please consider making a contribution of $35 per year; parishes and other organizations are asked to contribute $100 per year (to cover all their members).

This year membership payments can be made online, or you can mail a check to the Chapter. Payment instructions are at: http://npmportland.org/membership/

We also ask that you fill out a membership form on that page, which will give us contact information and more details about you, to help with the planning of future events.

Employment Opportunities

Our Lady of Lourdes (Vancouver) is hiring for a 1/2-time Music Director whose primary responsibilities will be to lead and manage the liturgical music at Mass, funerals, and other special events. The successful candidate will have direct experience in building a thriving music program and supporting the Pastor in all things relating to sacred music. St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish is looking for a keyboardist/accompanist for weekend Masses. See the complete position description here.

Father Chrispine, pastor at Our Lady of Sorrows is asking for help to find an organist for the parish.
The Mass times are 5 pm Vigil (piano okay if you prefer at this Mass)
8:30 am & 11 am (organ) This can be a job share.
The organist would choose all the music and accompany a cantor at every Mass.
There is no choir at this time. They use TM/Music Issue and St. Michael Hymnal.
