Class Description:
Beginners will be given instruction and opportunities to learn about the advantages and limitations of working with clay. You will learn the basic handbuilding techniques making pinch pots, coil creations, and slab forms. They will learn construction methods to form cylinders, bowls, boxes, flat and 3 dimensional pieces. All work will be bisque fired and then students will glaze and high fire the final products. Returning and more advanced students will be given individual instruction to help them expand and perfect their skills with clay.
About Instructors:
Mike: BA art education, MFA sculpture/3 dimensional design. He taught high school and university art classes. Self-employed custom furniture design. He is a sculptor creating non-objective, contemporary works and has participated in nationwide exhibits
Pat: BS/MS elementary education. Taught 34 years elementary grades/6 years university adjunct professor, 20 years experience working with clay.
