UP saw the highest number of freshmen melt than ever before, resulting in millions of dollars lost. In response to enrollment and retention issues, UP is enlisting the help of a new VP for Enrollment Management, as well as additional resources.

For most, the relief from a headache comes in the form of medicine or rest. But for sophomore Isaac Ajayi, the relief comes in the form of a pencil and paper, scribbling until the pain transforms into art. Last fall, Ajayi created HEADACHE, his own clothing brand that he started out of the comfort of his dorm room.

Are you trying to decide whether or not to live on campus next year? With so many factors to take into account, the process can be confusing for some students. As applications open for housing next year, The Beacon talked to some students and staff about the pros and cons of living on-campus.

Opinion

STAFF OPINION: For Netty Jurriaans, her sister used to join her on all her outings, sometimes against her will. Now her favorite outings are anything with her sister. While distance separates them, their bond is as close as ever and Netty is able to reflect on how this familial bond has grown over time

STAFF OPINION: Lulu Heffernan is known for saying three phrase: “It’s because I’m a libra,” “And that’s my truth” and “I love Tom Selleck.” Recently, she's realized that saying "that's my truth" goes beyond a silly phrase, but a phrase that has helped her be confident and secure in who they are

SUBMISSION: In response to an opinion piece the editorial board wrote, leaders of ASUP responded with an outline of what they are doing to try and improve the relationship between them and the student body. They heard the feedback and are ready to take action.

STAFF OPINION: Vinyls, while making a resurgence because of their aesthetic appeal, are more than just a pretty thing to look at, EIC Brie Haro writes. An intimate connection with a piece of music is an experience you get with vinyls. So, get them off your wall and on to a turn table, she emphasizes.

STAFF OPINION: Multimedia Editor Emma Sells amassed many academic achievements in her lifetime. But now that she is getting ready to graduate, she wonders if she could have done things differently. Drawing on the musical "Wicked," she states, don’t take life so seriously.

STAFF OPINION: In a spur of the moment decision, Editor Wilder Isom decided to play an album she hasn't heard in years: “M!ssundaztood” by P!nk. She then started listening to other albums of her childhood. She learned, in that moment, to just take the time to listen to old music that used to bring her joy.
