Bay Scallop Researchers Explore the Fall Spawn

For the past four seasons, scientists working to understand Peconic Bay scallops have found a clear correlation between the stress of scallops spawning in warming springtime waters with the death of nearly all of the adult scallops over the course of the summer.

Southold Democrats Pick Their Slate

Southold Democrats picked their slate for 2023 town elections Thursday night, choosing Suffolk County Legislator Al Krupski to run for Town Supervisor, along with former Mattituck-Cutchogue School District Superintendent Anne Smith and Mr. Krupski’s longtime legislative aide, Gwynn Schroeder, to run for Town Board.

Incumbent Democratic Councilwoman Sarah Nappa also announced at Thursday’s nominating convention that she will not run for re-election.
