For years, Deceleration has provided free reporting and analysis about our shared colliding ecological and cultural crises—and emerging solutions. Currently, we operate with one part time writer and editor working 30 hours per week. Thanks to a recent $25,000 grant, and board assent, I drew my first monthly paycheck from Deceleration last month for $1,250. Our readers provide an additional $450/month through Patreon that covers most of our various digital subscriptions and office supply needs. The remainder from both accounts allow Deceleration to contract with guest writers for feature stories every other month. With your help, we hope to bring on several new guest writers in 2023 with monthly contributions and establish ourselves in 2024 as a more consistent bioregional environmental-justice news service with a team of full-time paid staff. Our success hinges on being in stride with the needs and interests of the communities we serve. Your support as a friend, volunteer, contributor, or as a dues-paying subscriber, will be critical. Write us with any thoughts or concerns along the way at editor@deceleration.news.
With Love & Respect,
Greg Harman
