Principal's Message

Dear McGaugh Sea Lions,

On Thursday, February 16th, the McGaugh community gathered together to remember Mrs. McQuiston and the light she brought into our lives. Like me, I know you all will continue keeping her in your heart today and always.”  A.A. Milne wrote, ‘If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart, I’ll stay there forever.’

We dedicated a beautiful yellow “Cari-ng” bench to our sweet, amazing, beautiful, McGaugh teacher Mrs. McQuiston which symbolizes all the love and care she had for her students, her colleagues, her friends, and her family.

The placement of the bench, at the Sea Lion Park playground, has significant meaning and purpose. The McGaugh teachers wanted to find a way to honor her dedication and commitment to those she cared for and served so generously. We loved the idea of the bench being near her last 2 classrooms, looking onto the playground, the McGaugh flag deck, and the McGaugh seal. A place where sea lions past present and future can sit and feel the love and care she had for everyone in her life.

If you see someone sitting on this bench and they could use a friend, be that friend, the same way Mrs. McQuiston made everyone, she met, feel cared for. If you see someone sitting on this bench, think of ways you can be kind, care for them, and be a friend.

Sea Lions now and forever will remember the beautiful Mrs. Quiston, while sitting on the Cari-ng bench, next to the Sea Lion Park playground, with the sea breeze on their face, looking out onto the McGaugh campus, and their hearts will smile.

We can't wait to see you there!

Project SEEK - Auction Items

Do you have season tickets to a sporting event or performance hall?  Or do you own a business that wants to support local organizations?

As we at Project SEEK are gearing up for our largest fundraiser of the year, The Event 2023, we are looking to our community for support.  This year, The Event will be a Met Gala Enchanted Garden themed gala with tapas dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions.  All proceeds are used to fund the teachers' salaries and supplies for our art, STEM and media classes at McGaugh.

We need items for our silent and live auctions.  We would love to auction off a sports experience package, or a night out with a show, or any other large item sponsored by a business. We’d also love smaller items, to include in our silent auction or add to a package for auction.  If you, or your business, or a friend’s business would like to support The Event this year, please contact our donations team at donations@projectseek.org or complete a donations form to submit with your donation.  We need all donations submitted by March 1, 2023.

If your children are like mine, the art, innovation (STEM), and media lab classes are ranked at the top of their school day. And it’s no surprise…studies show that art, science, math, and technology classes help to foster a growth mindset, problem solving, and self-esteem in students.  Educators, and our own Project SEEK, believe these classes are vital in the education of all students.

Thank you for your continued support of Project SEEK and your child’s education!!!

Warmly,
Claudia Vecchio Wille
