Connect | February 2023

Kia ora <<First Name>>,

As we reflect on February, it's impossible not to feel a huge sense of aroha for everyone affected by the flooding and devastating impacts of Cyclone Gabrielle. Words don't really do justice to the situation many people throughout the North Island are now facing. Our thoughts are with you all.

It's been another busy month for the MSC team. A few pictures below showcase some of what we've been up to; a staff day out on one of Wellington's finest tracks (Te Ara Paparārangi ki te Tonga), presenting our latest research findings to a great crowd in Christchurch, and a hunting photo shoot with our partners at ACC.

Stay safe out there,

The NZ Mountain Safety Council Team.

Best of luck out there Tom!

Tom Harris, who's been our Partnerships Advisor: Alpine, is off on a new overseas adventure. After three awesome years with MSC Tom and his wife are moving to Germany. We wish them all the best and are so grateful for Tom's amazing work at MSC, contributing to initiatives such as the second installment of our Tramping Video Series, the Old Ghost Road MTB Video, and of course, leading the NZ Avalanche Advisory. Thanks Tom!

Roar ACC campaign

Coming up: We are kicking off the Roar!

We are collaborating with ACC on their Have a Hmmm... campaign targeting hunters for the Roar season! This includes a targeted digital campaign that goes through two phases of messages, the 'at home planning' and then 'while you are out in the bush'. If you get hurt, who else is impacted? We are also working with partners in the sector on stories and social media. If you are keen to get on board, please get in touch!
Thanks to our funders for making it all possible
