Scholastic Book Fair – Oscar Smith Middle School

Dear Abiding Savior Families,

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way!

Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become bolder, prouder, and stronger readers. AND... as always, every book they buy earns rewards for our school.

Our school's Book Fair will take place inside our library from Monday, March 6 through Friday, March 10. (VIP Day)

At this time, we are looking for parent volunteers to help staff the Book Fair during that week.

This day is for our students in TK-7th Grade to bring their Grandparents or a Very Special Person in their lives to school.

This year we will be dividing the day into two sections based on the student’s last name. Students will attend their session only. Students may come and leave with their special guests.

9:00 am -11:00 am —Last name of student A-K
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm—Last name of Student L-Z
*Please no exceptions*

Attendance will not be taken on this day, so if your student does not have a special person to attend, they do not need to come for their session.

Extended care will be open for students needing care.

Each session will begin in the student’s classroom. In case of multiple siblings, please report to the classroom of the youngest sibling. Our guests will receive a passport that will direct them to 5 stations to visit with their students after the opening chapel service.

Our 8th-grade students will be leading the chapel services. 8th grade students should watch for
further information about their expectations for the day.

We are excited to once again have VBS at Abiding Savior this summer. Abiding Savior's VBS will launch kids on a cosmic quest where they’ll have a blast shining Jesus’ light to the world. Stellar rockets kids on an out-of-this-world adventure that’s light years of faith-building fun.

If you haven't volunteered yet please complete a volunteer registration and help us share Jesus' wish with up to 140 children.

Abiding Savior offers Variable Tuition to qualified families on a first-come, first saved basis. Awards are determined by each family’s financial needs based upon an application and supporting documents provided by the family.

Students receiving Variable Tuition are expected to maintain commendable academic standing and attendance, behavior, effort, and citizenship. The students and their families will support the purpose, mission, and core values of Abiding Savior Lutheran School and are encouraged to be involved in the life of the school community.

Abiding Savior's Financial Assistance application is administered through FACTS, which reviews and verifies the financial and tax data provided by each applicant and makes recommendations to Abiding Savior about the family's needs.

The application for 2023-2024 opened on February 1, 2023. Returning families must pay at least half of the registration fee prior to completing the application. The deadline for applications is March 31, 2023, and awards will be sent by April 30, 2023.

South County Outreach has a growing need for soup to help feed the many people in Orange County including families and the elderly.

Please bring in canned or packaged soup throughout February and March to the Narthex (on your way to service) or the church office during the week.

The Gathering Grounds is looking for volunteers to serve on Sunday mornings. The Gathering Grounds is open on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. and also from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. It is a wonderful and fun service opportunity.
