The Annual Ag Abroad Photo Contest is back! Submit one photo you took on an academic or personal trip which exemplifies your perceptions of agriculture outside the U.S.! All submissions are due March 17

3. SCHOLARSHIPS & AWARDS

Georgia Foundation for Agriculture Scholarships
The Georgia Foundation for Agriculture is committed to investing in students pursuing careers in agriculture or a related field. For the 2023 year, GFA is offering $70,000 worth of scholarships. There are several scholarship opportunities across four categories available to students, each with varying criteria and eligibility requirements.  Learn more and find out how to apply here. Applications are due by March 1.

CAES College-wide Scholarship
CAES is committed to providing financial support to students enrolled in the college's majors. Apply online to be considered for all of these CAES general scholarships by
March 1
.


Broder-Ackermann Global Citizen Award
The Broder-Ackermann Global Citizen Award recognizes an undergraduate student in the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences who has embraced global citizenship in their own community or globally through participation, promotion and/or leadership of international initiatives. Global citizenship does not necessarily mean that you have traveled extensively, but rather that you take an active interest and involvement in cultures different from your own. Applications due March 1.

CAES International Travel Scholarship (for Summer Programs)
International travel scholarships are available to support CAES student travel to study abroad programs and international internship programs. Students may apply in one of two application cycles, according to their departure date. Students departing during the Maymester or summer semester should apply between December 1 - March 1.This scholarship is supported in part by the Deans' Promise Fund and is due March 1.

Global Food Security International Travel Scholarship
Through a generous gift from CAES alumni Dr. Hiram Larew, the Global Food Security International Travel Scholarship provides one $1,000 scholarship annually in support of a CAES undergraduate or graduate student participating in an international education activity focused on understanding the global community and the issue of food insecurity. Apply by March 1.

Wen Williams International Travel Scholarship
The Wen Williams International Travel Scholarship provides one $1,000 scholarship annually in support of a CAES undergraduate participating in a study abroad program through CAES. Apply by March 1.

Kanemasu Global Engagement Award
The Kanemasu Global Engagement Award supports students who are spending an extended period of time completing an internship or conducting research in a non-English speaking country with a focus on service-learning projects addressing critical issues related to the alleviation of hunger and poverty. Apply by March 1.

Voyager Scholarship
The Obama Foundation, in partnership with Airbnb, is looking for rising juniors based in the U.S. who are interested in pursuing a public service career to apply for the Voyager Scholarship, which helps connect college students with financial aid, meaningful travel experiences, and a network of mentors. Applications due Wednesday, March 22.

Nufarm Grassmanship Scholarship
This scholarship is open to all current or incoming college students with an agricultural field of study. One $5,000 scholarship and 4 $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Learn more and apply at this link by March 31.

4. CAES CLUB & SOUTH CAMPUS CORNER

Have you received an award or recognition at the college, university or national level this year?
We need YOU to self-report your awards and recognitions so we can recognize you at our undergraduate CAES Student Awards and Leadership Banquet! Some examples include: university or national research awards; university or national recognition such as Blue Key Honor Society, Goldwater Scholars, etc; UGA leadership positions such as Arch Society, Orientation Leaders, Student Government Association, etc; team competition wins such as the UGA Meats Judging Team, club competition wins at national conferences, etc. Be sure to submit your awards and recognitions by March 16th at 5:00 p.m.! P.S. if you know someone who is being humble and does not want to submit their award - encourage them to do so :)

CAES Senior Signature
Attention seniors! Have you made your gift to the Senior Signature plaque yet? For a total of $30, you can support an area of campus you choose - we hope it's CAES ;) - and have your name included on a plaque for the Class of 2023 in Tate Plaza! Donate by March 31!

5. KEEPING UP WITH THE CAREER CENTER

  • Want to explore different majors or careers? Visit the Career Center website for resources! You can also drop by the Career Center anytime between 11 AM and 2 PM for a fifteen-minute appointment. Drop-Ins are held in-person at Clark Howell Hall (Second Floor) Mondays-Thursdays and virtually on Fridays. No pre-registration is required! 
  • For more in-depth career guidance and preparation, feel free to schedule a meeting with the CAES Career Consultant Brionna Johnson!

6. BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Gilman Scholarship Essay Reviews
Are you applying for the Gilman Scholarship and want someone to look over your essay? The Office of Global Engagement (1324 S Lumpkin St, Athens, GA 30605, USA) is holding in-person essay reviews on a walk-in basis Monday, February 27 from 1:00-5:00 pm. Please note that each review will take some time so plan to arrive early as it is first-come, first-served. 

Internship with Senator Jon Ossoff
The office of Senator Jon Ossoff is excited to open our Summer 2023 applications for our internship program in our DC and State offices. The internship program will last approximately 12 weeks, beginning in June and ending in August and will require potential candidates to report in person for the duration of the internship program. This is a paid internship opportunity at $15/hour. Full-time and part-time positions are available. To apply to our offices, applicants should visit this link and submit their application by March 10.

NSF- Funded Cacao/Chocolate Summer Research
Open to all undergraduate and graduate students, this opportunity will take place Summer 2023 in Ecuador. More details can be found here! Apply by February 28!
