Who We Are

We at Family Promise of Midland are here to help families and single parents experiencing homelessness in Midland, Texas.

We opened our doors on Valentine's day in 2011 to our first family, a single mom of three children.

Ten years later, we finished our Developing Dreams project, building five duplexes and a day center on the property, bringing our housing from 3 duplexes to a total of 8 duplexes for families to reside in.

Our First Family Promise Family
Mark your calendars, and join us for a fun night of cards, bets, drinks, and raffles. Casino Night is coming up on April 1st 2023 benefiting Family Promise of Midland.

Self Love Training
Our self-love parent training turned into a SELF-CARE training. The Facilitator was Cecilia Reyes, who is employed with Thriving United, a local nonprofit organization that assists individuals in recovery. Cecilia did an excellent job engaging the families in different strategies to manage their stress and introduced them to a different approach to the day using Gratitude. Very insightful and reassuring to hear take time for YOURself
Parent Training

The love and logic parent training began in October 2022; facilitator Julie Pinson is employed by Midland Fairhavens, another nonprofit shelter organization in our community that assists single moms who have experienced domestic violence. In collaboration, she agreed to bring Love and logic to our families here. Love and logic is a six weeks parenting course that puts a spin on gentle parenting techniques. Our families learned simple and easy-to-learn techniques that teach responsibility and character, LOWER YOUR STRESS LEVEL, have immediate and positive effects, and up the odds that you will enjoy lifelong positive relationships with your kids!! Many tools to add to our families' toolboxes.
The Counseling Corner

This month is about Creating a Token Economy with your children at home. positive parenting refers to warm, nurturing, and responsive parenting, the kind of parenting that reinforces good behavior and avoids using inconsistent or harsh discipline.
A Token Economy is a frequently used and effective technique to help change behaviors in resistant children and adolescents. Some form of token (such as a slip of paper or a sticker) is awarded after positive behavior. The token can later be exchanged for a reward. Research has shown that token economies are an effective way to change behavior, but the way in which they are implemented is the key to their success.
In this issue of The Counseling Corner of Family Promise of Midland, there are six tips to help get families started. Remember change takes time so be consistent and patient.
