Dave Kincaid Racers:
Coach Dale and Jason will be with you there on Saturday and Sunday. Coach Lorraine will be there Saturday only. I have created a WhatsApp group for communication during the race. Use this link to join the group.
Please respond to this email if your child will not be there this weekend so that I can staff properly.
Due to the away race, I am trying to organize groups with limited coaches. My plan is to combine some groups, but it really helps to know who will be there. Here is the list of kids I have going to Dave Kincaid. I know they will not be there. I will send out groups and coaches on Friday once I have a better idea of headcount.
Saturday (GS):
Kids will train GS in the morning and then go free-skiing in the afternoon. We also will try to set one of the skillsquest drills at the bottom of the course, if space allows.
- Meet on Gold hills at 9:00am
- Pick up at Gold Hills at 11:15am
- Meet at the shacks at 12:45pm
- Pick up at the shacks at 3:00pm
Sunday (SL U12s-(AM Gates), U10s-(PM Gates) ):
U12s will also mix in some more skillsquest practice!
U12s (SL):
- Meet at Gold hills at 9:00am for SL training (this gives us time to set up the course from 8:30-9:00am)
- Pick up at the bottom of gold hills at 11:15am
- Meet at the shacks at 12:45am for free-ski
- Pick up at the shacks at 3:00pm
U10/U8s:
- Meet at the shacks at 8:30am for free-ski
- Pick up at the shacks at 11:15am
- Meet at Gold Hills at 12:45am for SL gate training
- Pick up at the bottom of gold hills at 3:00pm
This weekend's focus
For those at Crystal Mountain we will be focusing on foot to foot skiing and fore-aft balance. Here is a video talking about the concept! Groups will revisit the one ski drill, falling leaf, and whirlybirds. This will get the kids back in a more balanced position which makes them more consistent in the course!
Away race registrations
Please refer to the race announcements for information about lift tickets. Some require advance purchase especially for parents.
1. Dave Kincaid-Summit West-March 4-5th-all information on this website-Last day to register is Wednesday!
2. Bantam Cup-White Pass-March 11-12-all information and registration on this website -advanced lift tickets for parents, window lift tickets for athletes.
3. Apple Cup-Mission Ridge-March 25-26- Registration and the race announcement with information be sure to double check your child's age group, we had some issues with that last year. Racer and parent tickets pre purchase online. Sometimes Mission Ridge offers a spring pass so you might want to hold out on purchasing.
4. Buddy Werner Championships-Mt. Hood Meadows-March 31-April 2- registration is through your US Ski and Snowboard account, here is the race announcement with lots more information-it is first come, first served for registration so don't delay! The spring pass seems to be the cheapest option for lift tickets.
May Day Race (Mt. Bachelor) (April 21-23)
Save the date for the May Day race! This race is super fun for everyone! Really run for kids who just can't get enough of skiing! We are still awaiting information on this race but the dates are confirmed.
