We sincerely appreciate all of our wonderful watershed visitors who have been checking in and asking when they can enjoy the watershed – thank you for your patience. Our gates on the northern and southern entrances are back open and we are excited to see people hiking, fishing, and enjoying Los Vaqueros Reservoir. We have not yet repaired all damage from the storms. For your safety, please follow all posted signs and be aware of new traffic control measures.

Storm Damage Recovery
What a start to 2023! While we needed some rain, the multiple storms throughout January caused a significant amount of damage throughout the Los Vaqueros Watershed. Contra Costa Water District and our partners at Los Vaqueros Recreation Company are hard at work repairing storm damages to roads and infrastructure, making it safe for the public to access once again.

Los Vaqueros: A Quarter Century of Success
Los Vaqueros Reservoir has been an invaluable investment by Contra Costa Water District customers to improve water quality and to help our communities withstand several droughts; this year was no exception. December 24, 2022, marked the 25th anniversary of the original Los Vaqueros Reservoir—a monumental project for its time that has proven its value repeatedly through enhanced water quality, improved water supply, and drought protection.
