We look forward to serving you in 2023 with new products and more pop-ups and how to videos! We are now selling the Candles Kits online for those do it yourselfers! Ok there have been request for our brown sugar scrub. We are working on bringing that back. in time for Mother’s Day!
February was very challenging, but we made it through with the power outage in Michigan. Supply chain issues affect small businesses and while we know we will have to make some changes in 2023 because of rising cost, we will still work hard to service our customers with quality products. We welcome our new customers from the north, south, east, and west and we hope to grow even more in 2023.
I want to thank those that supported the Silent Art project for Eboni’s 32nd birthday. It is hard to believe she turned 32, she is a deaf young woman in college in DC, has been a wonderful part of Just Jameen with her art cards Posters, and Computer Mouse Pads and creating our Just Jameen Body Butter which is becoming extremely popular. It is a blend made with tea tree oil, coconut oil, shea, natural mineral oils, and organic beeswax. It is wonderful on those winter feet! The unscented makes a wonderful lip balm which we will focus on in this new year.
We are now making massage oils and have 3 great edible safe scents, Cherry, Cotton Candy, and Peach.
For March and part of April we will highlight women with local roots who are doing great things in the community and world. This is the rare time when we will send a newsletter out weekly to highlight these special women. Our first highlight is Sabrina Simmons Rice. She is Blind and a Just Jameen Consultant but more important the owner of the Non-profit “Eye Learn”. We are happy to introduce her to you. Please take the time to listen to the interview and look at a slideshow of her wedding and her organizations.

Sabrina Simmons Rice
CEO of "Eye Learn"
A Detroit native, Sabrina Simmons graduated from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1996. She was crafting a successful career as a project management team lead when her vision began to deteriorate in January 2012.
Determined to be self-sufficient, Sabrina enrolled at the Training Center for the Blind in Kalamazoo, MI. She learned skills and practices that would allow her to live the independent life to which she was accustomed. She also became proficient with a variety of tools designed to increase accessibility to technology for the visually impaired, including Jobs Access to Work Speech (JAWS) technology and Voice Over, an iOS screen reader. An entrepreneur and community servant at heart, Sabrina set out to help others by creating Eye Learn, an organization that trains persons with low vision in using assistive software and common technologies.
With a persistent sense of service to others, Sabrina proudly advocates for issues related to those with low vision to increase awareness of their existence, triumphs, and issues. She was featured in a public service announcement related to transportation services for those with disabilities. Sabrina has also risen through the ranks with the National Federation of the Blind, first as a board member and vice president of the local chapter and as a board member for the state affiliate. She currently serves as president of her local chapter, the largest in the state of Michigan.
When not running her business and serving her community, Sabrina spends time with her teenage son. She also enjoys ballroom dancing, water aerobics, and traveling in her spare time.
Eye Learn specializes in training of technology for the visually impaired, blind and elderly. Here at Eye Learn we learn to hear what others see! We will help you learn how to bridge the gap in the digital divide.

History You Should Know: Women's History Month
|

The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in commemorating and encouraging the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history.
Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” Throughout the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a week in March as “Women’s History Week.” In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History Month.” Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.

The Law Library of Congress has compiled guides to commemorative observations, including a comprehensive inventory of the Public Laws, Presidential Proclamations and congressional resolutions related to Women’s History Month.
