Requests for large-scale supercomputing allocations due March 13

NCAR is accepting requests from U.S. university researchers for use of supercomputing resources. Computing requests are accepted in the atmospheric and closely related sciences for projects that are supported by the National Science Foundation.

Opportunities for students and postdocs

Applications for NCAR's Advanced Study Program (ASP) Summer Colloquium, "The Atmospheric Boundary Layer: Integrating Complexity Across Disciplines," are due March 31.
Applications for UCAR's Next Generation Fellowships, which are available in three tracks -- science; diversity and inclusion; and public policy -- are due May 31.
Applications and nominations for NCAR's Undergraduate Leadership Workshop are due March 24. 
Applications for NASA's 2023 Heliophysics Summer School are due March 3.

NCAR welcomes third Early Career Faculty Innovators cohort

Six scientists have been selected for the third cohort of the Early Career Faculty Innovator Program. This program accepts and funds faculty members from social, policy, and behavioral science departments at U.S. universities for two years as they partner with NCAR scientists and engineers to solve weather and climate challenges.

Smoke over Canada

The COMET Program publishes new lesson on smoke forecasting and communication

The new online lesson entitled "Smoke Forecasting and Communication" leads learners through three different simulations in which they will need to diagnose the potential for smoke to affect their area of responsibility and possible impacts. They will also practice communicating with partners and aligning NWS messages with those of their partners.
