This selection features titles concerning the old yet always new theme: the methods of making image that inevitably refers to or influenced by "the real world." While some of them can remind one of both the photographs of Eugène Atget and early 3D video games, the essence of the image transforms and adapts the ever-changing, slipping-out-of-hand context.
Figures
Figures

Lucas Blalock's photographs don't look the way the world looks; they look the way the world feels. With Figures, he trains his camera on figures both his own and numerical, arranged by chance mathematical operations.

The Neue Altstadt (new old town,) set in the center of Frankfurt am Main, is an identity-seeking urban development project attempted a partial restoration of the buildings and structures that existed prior to the Second World War and its destruction.

Artist Daniel Poller overlays the copies of spolia (old stone elements) with color palettes selected from archive description of the buildings. Rhythmic sequences of Frankfurt Copies extend a new point of view of the architectural project which sparked many debates of Frankfurt's historical authenticity.

Everything Looks Better with Love
Everything Looks Better with Love

This set of works takes a precise and critical look at what computing is changing in our way of thinking and understanding the world. It is a question of experimenting with a whole system of possible operations carried out with an unfailing form of love for things, gestures and beings.

Thousands of explorable realities exist through rover and probe based imagery, virtual role-playing, and video game software. Within the contemporary wilderness, robots have replaced photographers as mediators producing images completely dislocated from human experience. This suggests that now the sublime landscape is only accessible through the boundaries of technology.
Le Service Shell à travers le Sahara
Le Service Shell à travers le Sahara
$30.00
Imagine traveling across the Sahara in the 1930s by bus with the Trans-Saharan General Transport Company, or serving remote villages as a doctor in the Congo and Rwanda. To avoid a fuel breakdown en route, people relied on Shell, which installed drinking water and fuel supply stations every few hundred kilometers.

These were marked in their guidebook to ‘Automobile and Air Tourism’ and carried religiously by daring motorists. This book of illustrations is based on a copy of the book given to the illustrator by a friend. He sketches simplified versions of the trucks, fuel pumps, mosques, and other points of interest printed in the original guidebook.

$80.00
This limited edition artist’s book brings together digital collages and manipulated photographs by painter James White based on the celebrated and hugely influential series Evidence by Mike Mandel and Larry Sultan. In Evidence, Sultan and Mandel drew on the archives of more than a hundred US government agencies, finding surreal narrative suggestions in deadpan images that were intended as functional documents, upending and interrogating the documentary natures they espoused. The book has been a continual reference for the grayscale photographic paintings for which James White has become known.
Tropism
Tropism
(archived, available for reading in-store )
An invitation for a treasure hunt on paper, where the images map a route connecting past and present. Places and people merge: he, she, they, here, there become one after having been separate for so long. In this imaginary bi-dimensional city, the elements from the photographs lose themselves and disappear, leaving behind them the mere and haunting presence of nostalgia.

What (MORE) can a bookstore do? - A question we must constantly propose.
Bungee Space is an image study- and image criticism-focused art book store, which also sells coffee, wearable designs, and works as an artist-run space & publisher. Rooting in where we come from, our ways of working, and means to survive, we simultaneously try to pursue independence and sustainability to provide a valuable space for emerging contributors to our art ecology. Standing beyond conventional definition of a bookstore, we involve, form, and transform community, intervene social, political, and cultural lives, creating chaos.
