Applications open! Editor-in-Chief,
Journal of Neuroendocrinology

Fundamental and Mechanistic Strand

We are seeking applications for this leadership position with the prestigious Journal of Neuroendocrinology (JNE), which is owned by the British Society for Neuroendocrinology (BSN).

The growth of the journal’s remit to include translational and clinical articles, and moves toward Open Access (OA), make this an exciting time to become involved in the ongoing global development of a premier journal within the field of neuroendocrinology.

The successful candidate will be a recognised leader of the international neuroendocrine community and will be expected to hold an impressive track record as a published author along with senior editorial experience. Above all, the successful candidate must be passionate about JNE and demonstrate a clear vision for its future growth and development as journals move towards full OA publication.

Take our second equality, diversity and inclusion survey

The BSN takes a pro-active approach towards enhancing awareness in relation to diversity and inclusion. In 2021 we surveyed members in order to ascertain the make-up of our membership so that we could understand where we needed to focus to improve our diversity and inclusion. As a result of this we have taken steps to improve the diversity of committees and meeting speakers as well as to improve the experience at meetings.

This is a long-term project as part of which we would like to survey members again, so that we can track change over time in terms of barriers within academia and also of members’ experience with the BSN.

Take the 5 minute survey by 3 April

Apply for early career researcher awards!

Deadline for both: 28 April 2023

Julia Buckingham Award
In honour of Julia Buckingham, this prize recognises the achievement and potential of an up-and-coming scientist within the BSN (up to 1 year following completion of PhD) at the BSN annual meetings.
Michael Harbuz Prize for Early Career Researchers – in memory of Dr Michael Harbuz, this prize recognises an outstanding member of the emerging generation of neuroendocrinologists (within 10 years of PhD completion) at the BSN annual meetings.

Blog | Why does gender inequality still exist in science and what can we do about it?

International Day of Women and Girls in Science was on 11 February 2023 and is an initiative from the United Nations to recognise the contribution of women and girls in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and to address gender inequalities in STEM fields. We published a blog and publicised BSN's efforts on gender equality on social media using the hashtag #BSNwomeninscience.

In this blog we take a look at the barriers still faced by women in science, why they exist and what the BSN is doing to improve gender equality.
